New User - can someone explain 'scrubbing'

I have been retired over 15 years,can you teach a old dog new tricks...... My first question early in the video studio pro x5 I noticed during the edit program the word scrubbing comes up. What does that do? and how do you use it? Thank you. I am looking forward to learning as much as I can about making videos...

Hello and Welcome to the forums - I'm sure we can teach you some new tricks - especially as many of us are 'old dogs' as well. (I'm on the 'wrong' side of 70)

Scrubbing simply means moving the cursor using the mouse so that you move very rapidly (like scrubbing) along the timeline.

hover your mouse cursor over the cursor in the timeline press the left key and slide left or right to move rapidly through your video.

Very useful to get you quickly to an approximate position in your video so that you can then use more precise controls to get to an exact point where you might like to make a cut or some other operation.
