CSo..we spend time creating our images etc using paintshop etc..surely the next stage is..printing them!
So...what printer is best d'you think?
Ive searched and searched....Epson v Cannon..wel Epson..appears better on the all-important ink front. Im not fussed on a photocopier or a scanner even...but a excellent quality printer..mainly to print my dvd covers etc...so photo stills and text.
EPSON Stylus SX535WD Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer
or - for £50 more - the EPSON Stylus Photo PX730WD Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer
I note that the more expensive Epson say its up to 40ppm ...whereas the cheaper one is up to 36ppm. IS that the deciding factor? Should i plum for the more expensive option?
Appreicate any replies particularly from owners of either of these machines. Keen to purchase - as you know yourselves..once you buy something your stuck with it for a few years at least ( save for a lotto win or a divorce in your favour! ).

When it comes to printer, it more of a personal choice. I for one uses an old model of HP f2400 series.. since it still print images to the quality that I like I'm still using it until now.

Re: COMPARING LIKE FOR LIKE...It's an important question..
I for one tend to prefer Canon printers. I have both an old i865 and a much more recent Pixma 4800. Neither were particularly expensive -- the latter costing around 100 pounds. Both use 5 ink tanks and both produce good photos -- some of the larger ones I have framed and have hanging on walls at home, so no complaints there. Both also have the advantage of being able to print direct to printable discs, so I can print my labels which makes them look that much more professional. I think this could be an important factor for anyone producing a lot of video DVDs. Having at least 5 ink tanks is another factor you need to bear in mind.
The big downside of inkjet printers is, of course, the cost of replacement ink, which is simply extortionate and often amounts to virtually the original price of the printer if you buy the whole set of ink. All the major manufacturers, including both Canon and Epson, use ink cartridges that have chips on them to ensure that only genuine ink is used in them. Using no-name ink cartridges in any case cancels any warranty on the printer. Needless to say the Chinese have sort of gotten around the chip problem, though. And you can also buy bulk ink refill mechanisms which appear to work well and reduce costs substantially, particularly if, like me, you do a lot of printing.

Re: COMPARING LIKE FOR LIKE...It's an important question..
I have owned both HP and Epson printers, but now use a Canon Pixma.
I will never go back to HP or Epson, their inks cost a small fortune.
I was always cleaning print heads, especially with the Epson. Nut both were very heavy on ink.
With the Canon Pixma All-in-One I can print 10x15 cards from a dedicated tray.
Print on writable CDs from another dedicated tray and scan.
All utilities work a treat.
When the printer informs me the ink is running low, I ignore it until it shows in the printing, this can take months!
(I keep ink in stock, just in case ..)
I don't print that much, just those 10x15 cards as I like making my own greetings cards.
Ergo: Canon is king in my book.

It's getting a bit old now (2007). Yesterday I had the first 'smudged inked edge' on a card
