Everybody looks FAT!

Darn. I just spent several hours authoring a DVD from a number of digital video clips of a recent family wedding. My DVC is a Sony DCR-DVD301 and I recorded in the NTSC 4:3 TV format. I used the suppled software (Pixela ImageMixer for SonY) to import the MPEG files from the camera to my hard drive. When playing these clips on my PC they appear normal, with no distortion at all. However, when I bring in a clip to MF4, the video appears compressed vertically and everything in the video appears wider than normal. The same thing happens when I create the DVD and play it on a telivision. I suspect this may be related to the files having a resolution of 402X780 being rendered at 420X780.

Can anyone direct me on how I can author a DVD from this camera without having the subjects appear "fat"? Is this a Ulead issue, a Sony issue, or possibly, a mismatch of the two? I really need to get a handle on this before wasting so much time and discs.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

can your computer play the DVD disc from your camcorder?

If so, then try to use the "Import from DVD" function builtin to MF4. Just put your DVD in the drive, and import the contents.

p.s. if your computer cannot read the dvd, then you might have to "finalize" the disc in the camcorder

Thanks for the suggestion. I can play the disc in my DVD drive and I'll try performing an import the next time. However, I've already re-formatted the original RW disc and I only have the MPEGs to work with for this particular project.
