Is it worth me buying a bluray burner ( LG BH10LS38.AUAU 10x Internal BD-RW or perhaps the LITE-ONIHES212 Internal SATA ) - the intention being..that i want to make the best possible quality dvds/blu-rays.
So..worth spending around £60 on a burner..£20 on a few blu-rays...or not? Your thoughts?
Photoimpact..or whatever the heck it's called nowadays...Painshop Pro x4...i see theres a twice the price pro x5 out there...I want to make dvd covers..Photoimpact 12 is what i currently have but doesnt save properly in windows 7...but happy enough with what it can do. So, question, would it be worth my getting the more expensive x5 version...or would paintshop pro x4 suffice for my needs?
Again, value your feedback.
thanks

To blu-ray or not to blu-ray - that is the question.

Hi
I am still a standard DVD user, eventually I will upgrade to HD and Bluray.
But is not just the camera I need, i have started the process by buying a Bluray player,
next would be the Camera then certainly would need the burner.
Hopefully the pc will be good enough to cope with HD video, otherwise its more expense.
You could create a hybrid DVD, thats AVCHD burned to a standard DVD, need the bluray player to play these discs, max duration about 40 minutes, suppose this is good for a test till you buy the burner.
Photo Impact X3 is still available from US site (download) at $19.99 for upgrade option add 20% for UK vat.
guess that will be about £15 to £20
X3 is the last version to be made, doubt if Corel will ever upgrade.
I have Paint Shop Pro X4, X5 has just been released.
When you say DVD covers, do you mean to stick to the disc? I had thought these can cause out of balance problems?
Have you considered printable discs, then again more expense in purchasing a printer.

Although I appreicate the reply I only do so for keeping this thread alive. You didnt exactly answer my question. Which, in a nutshell is, Using VSX5 - burning a blu-ray dvd...regardless of setting...18 this and 28 that....will it be worth my while buying a burner - will the results be better than a standard dvd?

The end result should be a Blu-Ray disc which is stunningly better than a standard DVD. See my post in answer to your other post on this subject at http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 26#p256026

The result will depend on the video that you are working with, if you're working with SD video and you'll create a BD and a DVD you may not see much different in the quality but if you're using a camera that captures HD video then when you create a DVD and a BD, you'll be able to notice the difference between the two.
