It's a great shame that Corel thinks that messing around with PSP has 'improved' things.. no it hasn't :-(
I use Ctrl+M to mirror something, then activating M for the Move Tool and using the Arrow Tool to nudge it into place. A long way around, but do-able.

As for the Text Tool.. it's a mess and takes much longer to do the same things we used to do when the Text Box was the only option.
You can still get the Text Box back, see attached.
To Edit the Text, double-click on the Text Layer in the Layers Palette.

Although the Text Entry box is still an option (an alternative to typing on the project itself), i wish there was a way to set it as a preference instead of having to hold the Shift key to get it all the time. Yes, i am lazy, but a few seconds saved in one command, multiplied by thousands of times for using it would really add up.

I also find that working on the project, although it might give a more visual result, requires to accept by moving the mouse all the way up every time, which is quite cumbersome i find.

Everything takes longer nowadays.
Corel is in need of a very powerful hearing aid ..

As for using the Text Tool for more than a few words, I use Xara's text tool, it's a dream :-)
Corel is very busy shooting itself in the foot, actually, in both feet...

My screenshot is X4. I assumed it was the same in X5 because very little changed between X4 and X5. Apparently Corel decided that the X4 icon wasn't very descriptive.

Maybe even before X6 as icons have a tendency to change at will and then change back again. Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Cassel : requires to accept by moving the mouse all the way up every time, which is quite cumbersome i find.
Just tested and in X3 X4 and X5 double left clicking outside the text regeion is the same as accepting so you do not have to move your cursor up to the Tick (accept) . Only found this out today after reading your complaint.

But, there's still the issue of not being able to edit text that goes outside the margins of your image. At least with the text box, you can see all of your text and can highlight any part of it.

When using text a lot I have gotten into the habit of making the text small enough to fit inside the work area and then you can edit , change size , move to another line etc. But yes the text box does make that easier.
Best would probably be a text box that can be set to permanently come on or stay off and auto positions near the bottom of the screen. Then all would be happy?

I use PaintShop Pro to edit photos (tiff and jpg files, as I use a different and more specialized program to develop my raw files).

I would like the program to have the ability to convert a layer into an intelligent filter (I mean for other filters different from the Adjustment Layers which are already intelligent and or for plugins, allowing to reopen them more than once to allow further fiddling with them).

I would like, as an option that you could switch on or off, that the clone tool could show (within the circle of the cloning brush) a glance of the portion of image you are going to clone, as a transparency.

I would like that other resampling algorithms (for example Lanczose3) would be added in the advanced options for when changing the size of an image.

I would like more flexibility in the ways one could manipulate nodes in the Warp Mesh tool.

I would like that some of the corrections of variables one applies when using certain editing tools (for example the Unsharp Mask), would work more in real time (or at least a bit faster).
