Re: PaintShop Pro - Wishlist for Version X6
I just got this idea... Seamless/Wraparound option for brushes. So if I'm painting/smudging/whatever and the brush goes to the edge of the image, it will affect the other edge too.. and if I continue to move the brush to the same direction, it would wraparound to the other side of the image.
Would be useful if the effects/filters had seamless/wraparound option too.

Not sure it's "temporary" saves. X5 wrecked a few of my images before I realized what was going on.narrowgauge wrote:If it must save temporary files let it do it 'in the background'. It is stupid to have a machine with multiple processors and have the job come to a stand whilst saving temporary files. X5 does this. Earlier versions didn't.
You do know you can turn this off, Right?
So it want save without your instruction. I'm far from a fan of X4 or X5 and this was one thing in X5 that I really, Badly don't want! So I searched out and found that it could be turned off or set up differently from default.

For myself and hopefully other psp users, when saving as a pspimage, the ability to save and control "undo" and "redo" history would be invaluable, and a smart advantage for corel psp to have.

I think it's a good idea to add the Channels docker (similar to that of Corel PHOTO-PAINT). Very useful tool!

I know it's possible to pick up the 'history' and use it in a 'script' - but it's not exactly user friendly.wildhoney wrote:I think it's a good idea to add the Channels docker (similar to that of Corel PHOTO-PAINT). Very useful tool!
So what about being able to pick up the script to
1 replay it later to get a facsimile of the process
2 edit it logically to amend and improve
3 save it for posterity

Agreed.Ektachrome wrote:My only wish would be that upgrades are made available for free.

Unfortunately it isn't likely to change.
Corel needs your money to pay the development team.
What they actually develop is a mystery..

Re: PaintShop Pro - Wishlist for Version X6
Did a comparison of the PSP versions X2 to X5 and looking for reasons to upgrade and wondering what Corel can add new to PSPX6 to make me want to buy it rather than skipping a version to X7 or X8. (I skipped from PSP 8 to PSP X2)
These were the changes as per the comparison pdf put outr by Corel.
X2 to X3
Enhanced HDR
(wondering why I went from X2 to X3 , and it was mainly the Text handling feature which I use often).
X3 to X4
Enhanced 16 bit support for more adjustments and effects
X4 110, X5 167 (what do these numbers mean? Are they the total number of effects?)
Move freely between Manage, Adjust and Edit
Fill Light and Clarity
Selective Focus
RAW / JPG pair filter as group for quick editing
Enhanced Photo Blend - add moving objects and preview allignment gives multiple objects from different pictures into the same frame .
Facebook sharing
Single RAW HDR
I dont use Manage or Adjust and the Facebook features so for me here the selling features were Fill Light , Selective Focus Enhanced Photo Blende and Single Raw HDR
X4 to X5
Enhanced Layer styles - uses standard tool options of numbers up down arrows blue slider , numerical (repeatable) values for directional effects (drop Shadow)
Enhanced 16 bit support for more adjustments and effects
Corel Guide "Built in" video tutorials. fee download content
Support for .abr Photoshop brushes.
Run multiple scripts after each other.
Enhanced Sharing (Facebook) , text and crop tools
New
Share my Trip
Instant Effects (Adjust mode)
Retro (part of Instant Effects)
Graduated Filter (Nik Graduated Filter is better)
Facial Recognition for Facebook and Flickr linking
Places map photos to locations
I upgraded to the X5 more for the price than any 'features' . None of the New features are of importance to me and the enhanced layer style - which should have been corrected right from the start is the only enhancement of interest to me.
So apart from fixing a lot of the widely known bugs, what else can they add to get beginners or me to purchase the latest version (when they should be patching the bugs that have gone from version to version - eg. extra space at end of text .

Re: PaintShop Pro - Wishlist for Version X6
For me, the worst thing about X5 is its instability -- about one-third of the time it will get hung up when started at the "Reset the Application" point and I have to kill the process in Task Manager. X5 has also crashed when using the dialog window for an adjustment layer, necessitating a thorough clean up of the temp directories and re-setting the Preferences.
So I'll be using the X6 trial for an extended time, and if the stability problems have been fixed, I'll buy it.
My main items for improvement/enhanced features are:
1. Fixing that <expletive deleted> text bug with the extra space at the end of a line.
2. An interactive gradient fill tool (where you click in the editing window to set the beginning point and drag to set the direction and end point). The current gradient fill method is garbage and it's time for PSP to join the 20th century, let alone the 21st.
3. The ability to set any layer (raster or vector) as a clipping mask for the layer above it.
4. Adding blurs as an adjustment layer.
5. Giving an option in the Preferences to disable zooming the image with the mouse wheel. I'm using the trackpad on my notebook PC, and far too often inadvertently touch the scroll area and zoom the image to 50,000 percent.
6. The ability to display multiple images (or multiple views of the same image) in a tabbed document format rather than as <expletive deleted> floating windows.

I have not experienced that at all.photodrawken wrote:For me, the worst thing about X5 is its instability -- about one-third of the time it will get hung up when started at the "Reset the Application" point and I have to kill the process in Task Manager. .
X5 has been fine 99% of the time.
It does throw a tantrum once in a while, but it's rare.
I wonder if it is something to do with different computers..
X6 is not anywhere near being offered, not even for beta testing.
I sincerely hope the Development Team will first iron out the existing problems with Service Pack 2, but am not holding my breath.
The more they add to the program, the more problems there will be. Very depressing.

I edit 22 Megapixels from my EOS 5D Mark II and III cameras and even with my new Core i7-3770K 4.6GHz, SSD, 16MB RAM running Windows 7 64-bits, it's pushing PSP X3 to its limits. Native 64-bits with GPU support would be really great!

I agree - I've just road tested another product which is 64bit (or 32 if you have an ancient machine - it knows which to install) - it wasn't as full of features as PSP but it was so fast.wildhoney wrote:It is high time to make it 64-bit!Jan Shim wrote:I edit 22 Megapixels from my EOS 5D Mark II and III cameras and even with my new Core i7-3770K 4.6GHz, SSD, 16MB RAM running Windows 7 64-bits, it's pushing PSP X3 to its limits. Re: PaintShop Pro - Wishlist for Version X6
What about an 'auto-iterative' save - ie as you save, the previous versions are not overwritten, so you can go back to a previous version to edit in a different way. Yes, I know you could do the re-name for yourself, but an auto version would help in 'those must save now' instances which cost you anguish
