NATIVE, 64 bit, use of GPU to accelerate processing.Comment Guy wrote:Native 64-Bit PLEASE!!!!!! 64-Bit 64-Bit 64-Bit Let me say that again 64-Bit PLEASE!!! With PaintShop Pro still in the 32-bit dark ages I can't process some of my really large files. PaintShop Pro is a great program, it's just very outdated as it still cannot utilize the memory capabilities, or speed, of true 64-bit systems. It's really past time to update PaintShop Pro to be native 64-bit.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

Re: PaintShop Pro - Wishlist for Version X6
I recently received an extensive questionnaire from Corel about future wishes to PaintShop Pro.
Did anyone else get such a questionnaire?
I spent a long time filling out the questionnaire and I hope others got similar questionnaires to respond to as well.

Re: PaintShop Pro - Wishlist for Version X6
Some suggestions:
1. If "Preview" palette is on in Manage workspace and one goes to a different workspace and then back to Manage, the palette is off. Chances are that if one wants the palette on in the first place, then one wants it on upon return too. I would like to see it stay on until turned off by the user, just like other palettes.
2. The Magnifier is a wonderful option, but not in the Manage workspace - the magnification is too big at 500% but would be very nice at, say 100%. So, I'd like the magnification factor to be adjustable or else just 100% in Manage but remain at 500% in the other workspaces.
3. The Smart Collection search does not work using more than one search criterion, and apparently didn't in X4 either (See other postings on this topic). Either the problems should be fixed in X6 (and also hopefully repaired in a future update for X5) or else the search should be limited to just a single criterion, which is what it can do properly - but it would be a step backwards. But users say it's fine in Corel Photo Album, so it should be a very easy fix for them in PSP.

Two general upgrades come to mind.
1) the provision for easy calculation and inserting a scale bar in each photo so viewers know what is .0001 inch, 1 inch, , 25 ft, 100 ft, 200 miles, etc.
2) Enhancing image analysis - the ability to quantify and report how many pixels have a designated value or range of values.

Have 'desaturate' on a separate icon - because if you use a pen/tablet like the wacom ones, it's impossible to 'right click drag'. So if you want to desaturate an image, you have to continually click on the mouse button swapping checkbox.
Have a shortcut available to change the brush sizes up and down (desperately needing that one for the pen/tablet too).
Noise removal... it's the worst I've ever seen. Seriously, it's actually impressively bad. Borrow the new one they're testing, from your other product "Aftershot Pro" (yes, Corel owns that one too, though many from Corel have never heard of it).
And how about a list of compatible plugins? It's tedious and depressing to download/install plugins only to find they won't work in PSP X5. Can we get a little help on that?
Otherwise, very happy customer.

I wholeheartedly agree. PSE's use of the square bracket keys works great for that.kye wrote:Have a shortcut available to change the brush sizes up and down (desperately needing that one for the pen/tablet too).

Yes, I think it can be eeeeeasily done...
Just take everything out on Highway 61.

Re: PaintShop Pro - Wishlist for Version X6
Given that Corel is looking to capture some Photoshop users (judging by your website) - wouldn't it be logical to have the option to select Paintshop OR Photoshop default keyboard shortcuts?
Just a checkbox that swaps over to a 'Photoshop' mode for keyboard shortcuts - that could also be swapped back (while honouring any customised shortcuts and leaving those ones alone)?
That's how you show people you're serious about helping them migrate to your product... you actually help them to do it.

Re: PaintShop Pro - Wishlist for Version X6
Here is my contribution for a wishlist.
1) Interactive Gradient tool! PLEASE!!
2) Since the introduction of layer styles, please give them the ability for more options including blend modes for the effect!
3) Clipping masks sort of like Adobe uses not the kludge of putting everything into a layer group. True clipping masks.
4) Better color management engine. The one it has is not very good.
5) 64 bit version would be awesome as well as cross platform would be amazing!

- 64bit support
- working with layers especially Dodge&Burn with 50% gray layer should be much faster. If you paint something on the layer it takes some seconds until you see your work.

Re: PaintShop Pro - Wishlist for Version X6
Update the KPT Collection to support 16bpp images. Since PSP does not have a Gradient Map or a Clouds renderer, KPT has become an essential tool
Also, a "Content Aware" Spot Healing Brush.

Re: PaintShop Pro - Wishlist for Version X6
I have four products that do Raw conversions with Corel's PaintShop Pro X5 and AfterShot Pro being two of them. Coincidentally, I like AfterShot Pro the best and PaintShop Pro X5 the least. It would be nice if the AfterShot Pro tools could be incorporated into the next version of PaintShop Pro. Barring that, it would be nice if PaintShop Pro's Raw Lab would incorporated the file adjustments already made by AfterShot Pro and stored on the associated XMP file.
