Drop Shadow in the Title Area

Post by leszektrojanowski »

I'm a user of Corel VideoStudio Pro x4 and recently found this feature not working properly. I'm trying to drop a blue shadow against the font. I'm getting a black shadow instead.

Please see here:

And this is what I'm getting at the end:

Previously I worked with Corel Videostudio Pro x2 and that feature was working perfectly.

It might be my eyes, but to me the drop shadow in the bottom photo still looks blue-ish... It is against a lighter background than the top photo and this could account for some of the blue appearing to be washed out...?

Well, it seems too washed out in my opinion.

In the Border/Shadow/Transparency box you show above, the box that shows "48" adjusts the transparency of the drop shadow. The lower the number, the more solid the drop shadow is. The number to the right of that how soft or hard the edge of the drop shadow is. Just as an experiment, set the left box to 10 and the right box to 0. If you have a blue color selected in the color selection box (which is what you show above), you should get a very obvious bold blue drop shadow. If you are not getting blue, yet blue is selected in the color selection box, then something is broken... can't say what at this point.

The features appeared to be working on my end. Here are some things that you may want to try.

Update Direct X -- http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/window ... tx-11.aspx

Reset the software to default -- http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... y-Defaults

Well, I've done what's been recommended to me. I've tried setting the left box to 10 and the right box to 0 and instead of blue I'm getting black colour. I also have VideoStudio Pro x2 and this seems to be working okay.

I've also done a software reset, but to no avail.

No idea what is going on here...

just a thought - grabbing at straws a bit - go to "Settings >> Preferences >> Edit" and see if the "Apply color filter" box is checked, if it is see what happens when you un-check it.

if it's already un-checked - - sorry.

It made no difference whatsoever. It fades into a black colour.

Hi

Just tried with X4
Changed background colour to white via Preferences to show the colour a little better
Created a text box against the white.

Drop shadow Settings to Y=99 separates the shadow
Soft edge to 0 gives a good solid look
Its Black
Changed the shadow colour to blue did not change to black. Strange

However changing one of the size settings seemed to make things work. Dont ask????
Now its working every time

I can't understand why it's happening. Never used to in the prev versions.

Anyway, I also noticed when I fade the text in and out, it fades in from grey/black and fades out to grey/black??!!
