Burning From A BDMV

Post by yugoman1 »

Sorry Guys, been through the book before asking this question as it might be basic stuff for some of you.............I have created a BDMV file of a 2 hour project and am trying to simply burn to disc. When I select tools, create disc, bluray, I am then taken to the same box that I previously went to when I created the menus/chapters etc. and I can`t see a way of getting past this to the burn disc area ?

First, can you confirm that the BDMV "file" you created is in reality a folder and not a single file i.e. if you left click on it in windows explorer, does it open and display a number of sub-folders, one of which is called STREAM...?

If so, then Video Studio itself cannot burn the folder to disc. You have to use a third party software package like Nero or the freeware ImgBurn. If you use the latter, make sure to read the instructions before you burn the folder to disc.

Can we assume you produced the BDMV folder in VS i.e. Share > Create Disc, Blu-Ray, but then, on the final page of the burning module, you chose 'Create Folder' instead of actually burning a disc? Or did you produce it using some other program?

Yes the folder is made up of other folders and as you say Stream is one of them, and I did it by the method that you describe in "Share".

OK -- now you need to burn using third party software...

Well, of course you could burn a Blu-Ray disc using Video Studio, but that would involve finishing your editing and then selecting Share > Create Disc > Blu-Ray, as you have already done to get your BDMV folder. But instead of selecting Folder as the end result, insert a Blu-Ray disc into your Blu-Ray burner drive and select Burn Disc instead. (Or first selecting Share > Create Video File > Blu-Ray, then when the new video file is produced, start a new project, then Share > Create Disc > Blu-Ray and insert your new file in the burning timeline and proceed as above.)

But then again, you never explained why you produced a BDMV folder in the first place... :?:

Apologies for the late response, have been away for a couple of days.......just to conclude.......from an earlier conversation with yourself, I wanted to look at the finished disc image including menus, and then perhaps store this folder on an external hard drive for later burning if needed.
