I'm new to PSP and bought X4 Ultimate about a month ago. I recently received an offer from Corel for and upgrade to X5 Ultimate for £17.99, so I've downloaded the trial version to evaluate X5 (updated to SP1).

Anyway, I may be missing something, but I can not seem to open an image from the Adjust tab. Whatever I do, the Open file menu option is greyed out. Very inconvenient as I have to switch back to the other 2 tabs just to open a file!
This behaviour does not happen in X4.
You double-click on the one you want to open in the Organizer at the bottom of the screen. Bear in mind that if you've customized your toolbars in Edit, you'll have to reload your Workspace when you move from Adjust to Edit mode.

Though that only shows the images in the same folder and you need to navigate to the another folder if you want to open an image somewhere else. In PSP X4, you can open an image in another folder without having to navigate away from your current folder. Not sure why this is disabled in X5.

Actually, while doing more tests on the Organizer, I realised that My Tray doesn't seem to work properly at all in X4 and images I add to the tray disappear when I change tabs.
It seems to be totally fixed on PSP X5 so I think I will take the upgrade just for this!

Context Menus - customise a context menu, say the Raster Pick tool add categories to the menu. Save the workspace then reboot PSPX5.

In my case, all the customisation has gone.

I have found that this bug is in SP1.

I uninstalled PSPX5 and reinstalled, but did not install SP1 and I can customise Context Menus perfectly and they stay even after rebooting and starting up PSPX5.

I reported it to Corel when beta testing after they released SP1, but as yet have not heard anything back. I need my customised menus.....

At least you can get to use it. I cant get past the user guide, I have no check box to stop it opening. X5 constantly freezes my system, still have X4 so I use that. I purchased this straight off, waste of money at the moment. I remember when X2 came out it was the same, the endless wait for it to open and then the constant fear it will freeze and you loose all your work.

X5 had become pretty useless at the moment, I still have X4 installed and having to use that in the meantime.
I bought X5 Ultimate for the extra features but I cant even use them. Hope Corel can get this fixed soon :(

It appears some folks are having some issues with x5. While many others, me included, have no issue.
So the questions needs to be asked. Are these Corel x5 problems/bugs or are they system related?

I don't wish to shift the blame but I can't help but think that some issues are related to how individuals have their computers setup. If so is it's Corels responsibility to have a program that works under ALL circumstances on ALL systems? Or is it a case of Corel being clear on what systems their programs work on, have been tested on and are guaranteed on. (This applies to all software from all vendors. It's not unique to Corel).

Maybe if some of the above posts were on separate threads with system details then some one here maybe able to put their finger on the problem/s.

Have found a couple of problems with the Organizer in X5.

Firstly, the Sort By drop down menu will not drop down. Is the a bug or do I need to reset something.

Secondly, is it possible to have the organiser display more than one line of images. Very annoying having to scroll sideways. The Organizer in X2 was very good. Might have to go back to it.

I hadn't noticed that the drop-down was broken until you mentioned it and you're right. I checked it in X4 and it works like it should.

No, it's not possible to view more than one row of images in the Organizer. I agree that it's a bit of a pain.

Not having the "Sort By" problem you mentioned. Clicking on the drop down arrow displays the other options for sorting. Works in all three modes.

Have you actually been clicking on "Sort By:"? The options for Sort By are just to the right. Click there to see the Sort By options.

The option to "Sorty By:" disappears for me if I have the "Computer" tab selected in the navigation pane. If the "collections" tab is selected I'm able to sort normally.
