Can't Install MPEG-4 Power Pack in VS9

Post by EBonilla »

I purchase the VS9 Upgrade with the MPeg-4 Power Pack. Installed VS9 Upgrade succesfully, and it is working as good as my previous VS8. But when I try to install the MPEG-4 Power Pack it starts and ends just after showing the UV9 installation opening screen.

If I set the installer .exe file compatibility mode to Win2000 or WinNT (as tech support suggest later), it continue with the installation without errors, and even ask for restarting the machine. It never asks for the activation code, but it shows the MPEG4 options on the create video menu. The problem is that when I select any of the 4 MPEG options and provide a file name for it to proceed, it gave me "The CODEC can not be found [18706:1:]" error message.

Obviously it is not properly installed as it did not shows either on the "Tools/Product Codec Information" screen. My machine is an Intel 2.8GHz, with 512MB and 120GB+300GB capacity. The OS is WinXP Pro with SP2 and I have been using VS since v6.

I have follow every suggestion from tech support but their suggestions are limited to "be sure to log as administrator or power user", "clean the temp folders", "defrag the disks", "set VS9 to Win98 compatibility mode" (which of course hangs), "use the compatibility mode wizard until it works". "Ensure DMA mode is set", etc.

I have even verified the registry settings for the MPEG-4 Power Pack for it existence and correct permissions, but it is empty (just a 1.0 folder with no content).

Anyone have had the same problem and has solve it successfully? Could anyone running it successfully be so kind to export the MPEG-4 Power Pack registry key and email me to EBonilla@HotMail.com so that I can do what the tech support people should do, troubleshoot?

Any suggestion, other than the ones shown above, will be greatly appreciated!
