Awesome?!? And they're giving away a 6 yr old program as part of the "Ultimate" package? Better be more that that and Nik, plus X5 better "ROCK"!

Not trying to bash the product too much before it's released but from what I've read so far there's not much reason to upgrade. I'd be happy to be wrong though.

That's because it's only describing the product in general, not a lot about what's new in it. I can't say if anyone will find it a worthwhile upgrade or not. Some didn't like X4 enough that they stuck with X3 after all.
But definately try it out before deciding if the new features are or aren't enough.

Isn't it great that we are all different. I had real issues with x3. x4 came along and had some bugs. But overall x4 has been a blessing when compared to x3. x4 now has 16bit tools. Love the Fill Light/Clarity feature. Is much faster. To name just a few improvements. Now if x5 has ????? I'll be happy.

The release date for both PaintShop Pro X5 and PaintShop Pro X5 Ultimate is actually September 5, 2012, according to Amazon. My blog http://alongwayfromcallahancounty.wordp ... next-week/ has some additional details.
There doesn't appear to be much in the way of innovation.

Well to be fair, PSP hasn't been innovating in quite some time. Not even sure if they are in a position to, it's mostly been catching up. Luckily there's even more to it than that. Again, don't know if anyone will be excited by what is there but there is more.

Interesting comment on your blog, Bob
It is sad that Corel neglected PSP for such a long time and your choice of words about 'owning and marketing' is very fitting.
To my knowledge there isn't much information about X5 out there yet, except to the beta testers of course. Are you a beta tester?

I don't see the point in releasing a v5 so close to v4. Does Corel pretend I am buying a new product short months after buying the "unuseable for me" v4? no way. I feel somewhat scammed.

It's 'normal' for new versions to be released around September in time for Christmas
Most people skip a version, as they're often fairly similar to the one they already have (the version, not the people).

Re: PaintShop Pro X5 Ultimate - on September 7, 2012
I'd be VERY interested if it renig's the idiocy of an image size limitation of 10,000 pixels. Not sure what genius added that into place for X4 (wasn't there on X2, I skipped X3) but doing panoramas is difficult work, and now that I have a D800 with over 7000 pixels in a SINGLE image, even a 2-image pano is unworkable in X4....
Hopefully Corel listened to these complaints when they came about early on after X4's release....

Compare versions and decide for yourself if it's worth the upgrade...
