New Vs pro x4 user here.
I would like to save my movies as WMV files at a size of 640x480 . I found a template in the movie templates manager that has the size , however try as I might I cannot get to save the file at around 500mb's . it keeps saving the file at around 120 mbs
can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to adjust the save file size
Thanks
Alan

Re: VS Pro X4 Saving Movie as WMV
File sizes depend on several parameters: resolution of video, bitrates of video and audio and of course the time length of your video. If you want the rendered file to be a certain size you have to play around with those parameters.

Hi Alan
The standard WMV profile called Neptune_BestQuality should create a video file using a suitable bit rate.
Are you sure you mean 120mbs--maybe 120kbs?????
These are the properties of the template, if you wish to edit these create a copy then up the bit rate?
Audio encoding mode: CBR
Video encoding mode: CBR
Audience: 768 Kbps
Audio codec: Windows Media Audio 9.2
Audio format: 96 kbps, 44 kHz, stereo CBR
Video codec: Windows Media Video 9
Video bit rate: 662.96 Kbps
Video size: 640 x 480
Frame rate: 30 fps
Key frame: 4 s
Image quality: 90
Buffer size: 5 s

Re: VS Pro X4 Saving Movie as WMV
Trevor -- I think he is talking about size in megabytes (MB) and not a bitrate of megabytes per second (more correctly shown as mbps). In other words he wants an output file of 500 MB rather than the one he is getting of 120 MB.
But as both you and Canuck suggest, to do so, he would need to use a higher bitrate to increase both the end quality and size ... or one of the other WMV profiles.
Alan: have you installed the Windows Media Encoder Series 9 on your computer? It should show as a separate entry in your Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. This increases the range of WMV output options.

Thanks guys for the help
Ken , no I do no have windows media encoder series 9 on my pc I will do this at the weekend and try my movies again. it is the end result /size that I am trying to get at 500mb , pro x4 has produced fantastic high end movies for me of the same movie clip but at 1.5gb size its far to high for me to either email or post on the web

Alan, how long in time are the videos you are working with?
If X4 can create the movies then X5 should do it as well.

Re: VS Pro X4 Saving Movie as WMV
Thanks Ken
Upps, sorry about that
seemed to have the wrong end of the stick.
However adjusting the bit rate (data rate) kbps will affect the file size and affect quality
canuck asked how long your videos were.
Need to know this to give a MB file size
As a guide a 1 minute video converted to Wmv using the Ulead_Neptune_BestQuality
made a file at 6Mb
