Installed VS Pro X5 today and when I want to look at the help, it tells me I have to register. Can I only access the help files on-line? Do I need to register to view the help files?
What's the benefits of registering or disadvantages? I never had to do this before.
Thanks

There are absolutely NO disadvantages to registering - but there are some advantages, such as access to Corel Technical support - although you can access these forums without registering we are all users like yourself and there may be occasions when you need more detailed technical support. Also access to customer services which could be handy if you have a computer breakdown and are after a free download to replace your damaged programme.
Do you not automatically register all your software programmes ? - I do it every time.
Do you have the full paid for version or the free trial ?
As for being asked to register before getting online help - can't say I've ever heard that complaint before what exactly is the error message you get when you press F1 with VideoStudio open.
If you have a full paid for version then the solution to your problem is simple - register your product - if that really is alien to you then you should find a copy of the user manual on your computer - mine is in the following folder : -
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X5\User Guide

Thanks for the help file location.
I never register anything unless I have to. The less info I have to give out the better. I worked in computer security and am still amazed how little concern people have for private info and we see it get released, stolen etc all the time. Companies used to require you to register your product in order to get warranty. How convienient it was that they seemed to not have your registration card when your product took a dive or they told you it didn't arrive in time. I believe most states don't allow that any more.BrianCee wrote: Do you not automatically register all your software programmes ? - I do it every time.
Paid full price for it. Even though I've been a paying customer since the 90's, since my last version was 10, there' s no upgrade path for me. Version 10's audio sync and new text menus were pretty bad so I had to use something else. Doesn't look like they do a competitive upgrade either.BrianCee wrote: Do you have the full paid for version or the free trial?
The F1 didn't work. Nothing happened. When I pressed the icon at the top right for Help and Product Information the learning section wouldn't work until I registered the product. The message that posted was to register to use Corel Guide and the launch help button wasn't there. I never had to register any software just to access the help system. That's why I asked. Once you register a different screen appears for Help & Product Info.BrianCee wrote: As for being asked to register before getting online help - can't say I've ever heard that complaint before what exactly is the error message you get when you press F1 with VideoStudio open.
