[OT] [SOLVED] HELP needed

Post by FalCT60 »

Hello,

Well, this is not the real place to post this, but I didn't know where to...
Last week, WinShit did crash my 2TB HD with, over many other things, 10 000+ photos of my kid - and no backup... yes, I know... -.
I don't care about other stuff, but not the photos. Photorec could recover them (78+ hours working very hard). 8) But they are upside-down with (not really) random names.
ASP is currently renaming them (well, it only processed 280 files in 12 hours, so it might take it a while to achieve) according to the date and time they were shot (really great feature of that great piece of sw!), but then I'll have to do again all the processing... except if...
Well, after Photorec recovered the xmps too, I stored them in one single folder named XMP. But, as the other files, they are named by photorec. Upside-down.
As I have no programming experience nor knowledge (well, I learnt Basic, but it was 30+ years ago), I'd be grateful to anyone who could write a script to do the following :
***** Remember I run WinShit! ******
For each xmp file within the folder, from the data at the line bopt:DigitizedDateTime=
1- if not already, create a folder named upon year, month, day (ie. 20120311) into the existing XMP folder,
2- copy the xmp into that folder, and
3- rename it upon hour, minutes, seconds, subseconds (ie. 220955102).

In advance, many thanks to who could help me.

Regards,

J.-Luc

I sent you a PM about this. I can see a way to do it provided you are prepared to install the cygwin utilities (which provides the facility to script, and the tools with which to script, your requirements). There may be other XP based tools for doing what you would like to do, but I haven't used XP for anything serious for many years....

Thanks to Dutchmm, I hope I'll soon get my photos back and processed as before the crash. 8)
Maybe it's time I move to *NUX, especially since my Ataris run FreeMiNT, which shares some similarities with this.

Good night to everyone,

J.-Luc
