Not bad...
The main issues I ran into were of course not having enough audio tracks which I knew was going to happen going into it. To get around this I had to export about 700 pieces of audio to a stero track and popped it back in the project. This left me with what I needed to finish the sound/music. The other issue I ran into was it took me 4 times to get a render to complete without crashing. Not sure what that was about but it finally completed yesterday. Final running time is 50 minutes but this is only the first half of the movie.
Here is an old clip with very little special effects, no color balancing, and this was also before I gave the audio a once over in pro tools.
The final product looks and sounds pretty darn good and i'm happy.

What was the original video format when it came out of the DSLR? Was it AVCHD, High Def .mov, MJPEG or something else?

Re: So I used X5 for a bigger project...
All three cameras were Canon 7D's
Raw format was 24p .MOV 1920x1088 at 47Mbps. In total the raw footage was close to 1 terabyte.
it crashed at 20%, 70% and then 50%... There was really no pattern. The 4th time it went through no problem and I did a happy dance because I REALLY didn't want to start over in another piece of software.
Didn't have this problem in X5 small projects. Previously did a commercial for a JK Taekwondo with the same cameras but it was only 30 seconds. Did a short guitar instructional video also no problems. Neither of these were any where near the scope of what I just did though. Its really the only difference I can think of.
When I first went to DSLR I had a copy of X4 and it wouldn't even render a 2 minute clip without crashing so it has drastically improved I suppose.

Hi
The Canon 7D creates AVC H264 mov files using 16-bit Little Endian audio.
I would use 25fps or 29.9fps depending on Pal or Ntsc.
This will give more options when rendering to other formats.
What options did you choose to convert the files, and did you use 24fps?

Re: So I used X5 for a bigger project...
Yes the target file perfectly matched the raw.
But I actually figured out what the problem was!
I made a 1 minute trailer and the same problem started happening but it was only happening at exactly 88%. I went to around that part of the project and everything seemed fine until I found a 0,0,0, black graphic I used to fade out an overlay track was sitting almost completely off frame. I centered it and it rendered perfectly... I put the graphic back mostly off frame and it crashed at 88% again...
So I loaded my main project up and found the exact same issue at 20%,50%, and 70%.
I copy and paste a lot so I would have to assume at some point I copied that black graphic off frame and kept using it over and over.
Did another render of the main project and it went with no problems.

Hi
Thanks for the feedback, very strange but worth remembering.
I assume the black clip was from the VS library?

Yes it was the Generic 0,0,0 black color you can drop down from all the other color selections.
When I say that most of it was sitting off frame I could barely grab the corner of it with my mouse to drag is back.
