which version of MovieFactory are you running?

Have you applied the burner patches available at Ulead's Support pages?

I'm running the 4.0 version and I also have this problem.

I burned a Video-DVD without a single problem, but the next ones I tried burning had this problem... ARGH! :?

Please can someone help a little bit more on how to solve this?

Posting the properties of your source material is important.
How did you record the video etc.
Are you adding audio / background music to the menus?
If yes what are the audio's music file format?

While in MF and on the timeline screen:
Right Click on the video thumbnail and select "Properties"
Post that information back here.

File format: Microsoft AVI files -- OpenDML
File size: 719.770 KBytes
Frame rate: 25.000 Frames/sec
Duration: 4681.120 Seconds
Data rate: 152.57 Kbps

Compression: DivX Pro(tm) 5.1.1 Codec
Attributes: 24 Bits, 720 x 576
Total frames: 117/028 Frame(s)

Compression: AC-3 ACM Decompressor
Attributes: 48.000 kHz; 5 channels
Total samples: 224.693.760 Samples

I am not adding background music to the menus, but is a motion menu. I don't think that could be causing the error since the DVD I burnt earlier also had motion menu.

You can try the ISO file creation method but many times
conversion of the audio in a divx file is a cause of problems.

Those files are hard to convert.
Instead of converting them to dvd I've been playing those files on
a dvd player that supports divx.
Bought one at 6th Ave Electronics $38.00 US Dollars. (Thirty-Eight Dollars)
It was a Norgent or Norxxxx something with that name. (NorVant????)

This little unit also has a data mode and displays all the folders & files
and identifies them either as avi/mpeg1/mpeg2/vcd/svcd etc.
Of course also plays them

I am having the exactly the same problem, even using iso image, instead of burning directly. I think it is the AC-3 audio encoding that's causing the problem. The video conversion went through just fine, as the temporary .mpeg file was created. The error came up when it started trying to convert the audio. The avi files with other audio encodings (such as mpeg layer 3 or mp3) were converted fine. Apparently, the MF4 has problem recognizing ac-3 codec, eventhough the company website claims it's compatible with AC-3.

The other file I successfully burned into a Video-DVD was also an .avi file compressed with DivX 5.1.1, but with a 'Lame MP3' audio compression, and different bitrate.

Any chance I could "convert" the audio compression of the files that are bugging me?!

I would say because it's also 5 channel can be a problem.

Maybe try exporting the file trying different encoding for audio
such as lpcm or mpeg audio as an mpeg2 file.

The compression and bit-rate of a divx file is much lower than
mpeg2(dvd spec's).
Your 720meg file will grow to about 3 or more gigs depending
on the bit-rate you set for the mpeg2 file.
After all that work you may end up with audio-sync problems anyway.
I go from a video source to mpeg4/divx, never from mpeg4/divx to dvd.

Meant to say more compression and lower bit-rates.
That's why mpeg4/divx is smaller file size.

I gave up the MF, and use Nero instead now. It converts the same avi file without a glitch, and it takes only 2-3 hours for a movie, while the MF needs 10-12 hrs for the same file! Make sure you get the full Nero though, which includes all plug-in's and a converter.

Yeah, but what about the menus and stuff I've created with MF?

ulead are you listening????

Post by fbis1 »

hi,

i just purchases the full copy of MF 4 and I am having the exact smae porblems with movies encoded in the AC-3 audio format. Lame mp3 worked fine. Ulead claims it supports the AC-3 format and its pretty clear that if everyone is having the same problems as me, then they are making false claims. Anyone have a solution to getting around the AC-3 audio encoded videos ?? ULEAD, are you going to come outwith a patch ??
