X5 backwards compatibility

Post by pddunn »

Hi,

I'm hoping to return to return to using VS after a gap of a number of years, once I get a replacement for my 10 yr old PC ! I used to use VS8 and 9 - will my old VSP files still be useable by version X5 when I get it ? And the resulting MPG files from that era ?

Thanks,

Peter

Yes you should have no problems in opening project files and mpegs from VS8 and 9 in VS X5.

Remember though that the reverse is not true - once you have opened and worked on a file in X5 it cannot be used again in V8 or 9, so if you think you may need a V8 file again it is best to make a copy first and use that in X5 - X5 does provide the option to save project files in the format used by X3 and X4 in case you want to use files in those versions but that does not extend backto 8 & 9

Hi Brian,

Thanks. I remember well the dubious delights of VS8 and 9 and the hours I spent on this forum, so I can't see me wanting to relive any of those ;))

Cheers,

Peter
