VS X5 pro, Please help, can't get my normal audio to play...
...adding effects in VS x5 pro. I just downloaded the trial after upgrading to a new laptop running windows 7 and was told I could not use my videostudio 11 or moviefactory 6 plus. So I have video that I imported from my SDHC card in high def, it played fine until I started adding a crossfade and a couple of slow motions. Now, every video had no sound. I have tried deleting them and bring them back in, but still no sound. It will play music over the tracks, but I have lost all my original sound. I thought I would be able to add some music and lower the original soundtrack at certain points, letting it fade in and fade out, allowing for the original audio to play through and along with the music. I am pretty dissapointed right now and need some answers. Also what happened to the moving menus? Am I missing something? I am confused with the templates as well... begininng, middle end or complete. Is that instead of moving menus? Can I not make a moving thumbnail menu with music and chapters? I am lost. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi
The workflow and editing styles have not changed that much from Video Studio 11, so if you were conversant with that version then you should have no problems with X5.
Instant Projects (beginning middle etc) are however new, they create an intro, a start to your project, or indeed an ending.
Instant Project automatically add images/video to the timeline, the images use Place Holders these should be replaced with your own images. Right click a Place Holder and choose replace....
----------------------
Thumbnail menus and Chapters are part of the Authoring module, Share Create disc option
This is where you create the menu structure, the Gallery contains additional templates, Smart Menu, Text Menu and Thumbnails.
I believe VS11 only had Thumbnail menus, again the editing is similar to using VS11 of which you should be familiar?
--------------------
lowering the original soundtrack at certain points, known as rubber banding can be accessed from the Sound Mixer, music look alike icon below preview screen.
The position of icon and name of this feature may have changed from that of VS11?
--------------------
Finally your video files, to give any response we need to know what type you are using.
Right click a clip in the timeline and select properties, what are they?
Slow playback may be a Smart Proxy issue, make sure this is enabled and that proxy files have been created.
Do you have QuickTime installed on the PC?
Your camera, did this come with any software, if so have you installed that software, this may provide the codecs required to view/play your video files.
Hope this helps

Thanks I am familiar with the rubber banding method in audio, but my original audio is completely gone. I cannot get it back. The only way is to re import the video and not add any effects. Which is non productive. Please help thanks

Sorry they are .mov files from my panasonic lumix. The audio plays perfect if I add no effects. As soon as I add one the original audio is gone.

Hi
Unfortunately I do not have a solution, the video's play ok in Project Playback, only Clip Playback shows this problem, but did run a few tests.
Adding the clip with filter to the library has no sound??????
If you add a colour clip to the beginning of the timeline seemed to cure this, but did not work every time.
Changing the volume from 100% to 101% played the clip ok, but again did not work every time.
I updated Quick Time to the version supplied from Panasonic, no good.
The good news is that the final render, creating a new video file works ok. So the final output file is in tact.
Not that it helps but I tried X4 and X2 with the same results, so the problem has been around for some time?
Till a fix is provided you may have to get used to Project Playback
You may be best to Report this to Corel Support.

Hi
I have done a few more tests, after adding a filter the FX icon remains selected, click away from the FX icon, any other icon above will do.
Then playing clip in Clip Mode seems to work.

Have you tried updating the codecs on your computer? Here are some of the codecs that you may want to install.jwren wrote:...adding effects in VS x5 pro. Hi Abiel
I have provided a sample Mov on 4 shared, would you like to try this on your setup to see if you have the same problems.
Simply add a FX filter then try to play in Clip Playback mode?
Do you hear sound?

Re: VS X5 pro, Please help, can't get my normal audio to pla
FWIW, I can confirm Trevor's findings i.e. by adding any filter to the clip, sound is muted in Clip mode (though fine in Project mode). By selecting any other screen apart from the FX one, sound returns in Clip mode. I am, however, unable to offer any explanation...

Hi
Thanks Ken for confirming this. I have been aware of this for some time but had forgotten.
The grey matter took a while
.............I think it may be getting worse, I think?
Besides we tend to get used to these abnormalities a simple mouse click becomes the norm.
