Error exporting template. Please Try again

Post by tuckert »

Hello I've encountered a problem installing 10 of the the templates. I install them just like all the other extra content however when I click on the userstyle.vpt file I get this error
Error Exporting template. Please try again.

The files in question all have the mtm abbreviation in the the title

Building Sky clouds-mtm 01 hd
Building Sky clouds-mtm 02 hd
Flying Frames mtm 01 hd
Flying Frames mtm 02 hd
Photo Album 01 mtm hd
Photo Album 02 mtm hd
Retro Travel 02 mtm hd
Retro Travel 01 mtm hd
Kaleidos mtm 01 hd
Kaleidos mtm 02 hd

I've tried rebooting and still nothing. Is this a known issue or is it simply a matter of downloading the files again , if so how do I delete the files so that the the Do more function recognizes that the files have been deleted to display the download option ?

Any help is most appreciated, thanks!

Hi tucket

and welcome to the forums

What version of Video Studio are you using?
For X5.........

There does seem to be a problem with some of the downloaded templates, I do not think this has been mentioned before so thanks for that.

When we download a template we are then prompted to install, this creates a folder saved within the VSP Template folder.
Any template here should automatically populate the Custom page of the Instant Project library, after re-booting Video Studio.

There is a fix that replaces the VPT file but first can you compare the contents of your VSPTemplate
(C:\Documents and Settings\Trevor\My Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate)
to the contents of the Custom page of the Instant Projects library, this should identify all faulty templates.

Ok
The templates folder also contains a VSP file (Video Studio Project)
From video studio File-Open Project open each faulty template as a VSP, one at a time..........
From File-Export as Template, overwrite the VPT file.
The Custom folder should update without re-booting VS, I think?

Hope this helps

I am running VSP 5 Ultimate, sorry I should have mentioned that before.

Trevor, many thanks to you. opening the project in VSP, did the trick it did not even dawn on me to try that the Corel platform is relatively new to me , I need to build some confidence to think outside of the box with this very versatile edit tool. Thanks again for your guidance. :)

I know this is an old post, but the templates listed above by tuckert cannot be imported into X6, when trying to open the VSP project it defaults to X5, is there any known workaround

Thanks

Are you only talking about them not opening when you click on the VSP in Windows Explorer/Computer? Certainly they open when you have X6 itself open and then choose 'Open Project' and navigate to where the template is stored in the (My) Documents Library or folder... I just tried that with the Retro Travel template .vsp, and it opened just fine...

Indeed, I just went to the same template vsp in Windows Explorer, clicked on it and it opened X6 -- yet I have not downloaded any of the templates using X6 as yet -- all were done in X5.

Thanks Ken, choosing 'Open Project' resolved the problem' although I was a bit concerned when exporting as a template I received a warning message that all files in the folder would be removed first and did I want to continue, but installation in X6 appears OK. not sure what I was trying to do before to import.

Will continue evaluating the trial

Hi

X6
For what its worth I have downloaded all instant project templates from the Do-More with on problems, with the exception of the “4 in 1 fade”
New pc system with X6 installed only.

The list shown by the original poster (X5) was submitted to Corel and as far as I know have cured the problem, as my other post, a missing Bmp for the thumbnail caused the problem.

Opening the Instant Project VSP and recreating the Instant Project would recreate the BMP and allow the template to show in the library.

If you wish to customise the library with your own image I guess you could replace the BMP.

As I say I have downloaded all from scratch and all works.

I would assume that X6 would use the X5 download files as they are common on the internet. So existing problem downloads would cause problems for X6.

Hi Trevor,
I don't think that problem has been fixed by Corel, they still do not self install in either X5 or X6, it being necessary to manually install as previously mentioned.

The "4 in 1 fade" I have managed to successfully import into X6 using the procedures as outlined in the above posts, but then I do have it in X5

Hi

If you downloaded the problem templates using X5 then its those that you are trying to install,
The download site for X5 and X6 is the same site.

If you view the contents of the problem templates, can you tell if the Bmp image is missing.
Compare the contents of the problem folder to a working one. It would be noce to know what you see?

As said i downloaded all yesterday and all worked ok

If you wish I will make available the new downloads of the problem tenplates, but again creating a BMP with the appropriate name will fix the issue.

Thats all assuming you are using the original x5 downloads.

Update

Having taken note of the available downloads it would appear that Corel has modified the list, the problem templates are no longer available.
