1. In X4 Pro when chapter points are created and named with specific content-based names in the Edit/Timeline stage or the Disk-Authoring stage - if ONE chapter point is deleted or added either in the timeline (leaving the time code for the other chapter points untouched) OR in the disk menu, then ALL this information, ALL the specific chapter names is obliterated and AS WELL the customised background images and music revert to the Generic menu - ALL The Work is Totally Lost
2. If a Transition is altered/added to Chapter Points, the Chapter Points are moved along the video timelines a considerable distance from their original insertion point vis a vis the video track appearing 1-3 seconds after the chapterlead. All The other Work in the Disk Authoring Stage (menu images, font, music) Is Lost
(I have seen "work-arounds" for this problem but they are unnecessarily complex
3. Export Function Is Compromised - producing unreliable .mpg and .avi.
4. Import Function is much better including all high definition formats. Does Not import VOB files.
However it is very efficient at burning BluRays
X4 Fails On The Most Basic (Free) Entry Level Functions. It Is Poorly Integrated between Timeline and Disk-Authoring - a huge amount of work is lost because of its ineptness in dealing with simple actions that other programs (in 2003!) had no problem with. It Is Unstableat the strangest times. It Freezes Despite The Resource Monitor Showing Large Amounts of Spare CPU and RAM.
The Email Support Service of Corel pretends there is not a problem and then will claim that the case has been inactive 10 days despite a flood of emails well within the period.
They tell the customer that "the problem has been resolved" when it hasn't
A Disaster - for what could have been a wonderful program. Get The Basics Right - The Frills Are Gorgeous!
X5 is out now but having bought X4 in March 2012, I am not willing to throw good money after bad in case X5 has not solved the Disk-Authoring - Chapter Name problems.
At present I have beenforced to use the free Windows live MovieMaker and a free Power Producer (in which menus and Chapter names remains stable).
Today I used Power Director 10 - very good with Disk Creation, Menu Stability and Chapter integrity - it is not however as efficient in burning BluRays from MTS files (H.264) as X4 PRO
