type of disc
I use DVD-RW and DVD+RW. I tried to trace it to brand, type, etc. and nothing makes any sense on why one works one time and not the next but does the next. What I am doing is recording TV shows to edit and send to my son who was deployment to the Middle East.
DVD-RW vs. DVD+RW discs -- one might be readable right out of the DVD Recorder, and the other one might require "finalizing" before it can be read by your computer.
I suspect the +RW disc can go right from your recorder to your computer. I think your -RW disc might require "finalizing" (but check in your user manual, or just try it to see if that's the case).

you might need to restart the computer after importing the first DVD. I had this problem trying to import DVD-VR which uses UDF format. When I insert the disc in the drive, Windows Explorer can see the files. After importing it to DMF, the second disc i inserted is no longer accessible bt Explorer. So what I did was to save the project, restart the computer, then open the project and import the second disc.
the UDF driver may not be closing properly when the first disc was ejected so the second disc becomes an unreadable UDF disc.
anyone have other thoughts on this? i might be wrong about the udf driver.
