Making work area look like older versions...

Post by nanrector »

Is there a way to make PS X4 open up images the way it did in older versions... i.e. each image opens up as a stand alone floating box so I can have them side by side? (See attached image)

Thank you!
Nancy

That is known as Windowed mode.

X4 isn't the best when it comes to handling these windows, however, so getting it to work exactly like it used to won't happen. This has been a big point of frustration for people.

If you go the Window command in PSPX4 you can turn off "Tabbed Documents" by just clicking on the name or by running one of the Window commands "Cascade" or "Tile" and it'll force the documents back into Windowed mode. Turning off "Tabbed Documents" calls the "Cascade" command.

At this point you have to be careful. If you maximize the window it goes back into Tabbed Document mode. So you lose all of your Window size and positioning are lost as a result.

Also there is an odd bug where if you click on the title bar of one of these windows while the crop tool is selected it'll force the image to maximize and go into Tabbed Document Mode.

Thanks SO much! I guess that's the one spot I didn't look. Whew. That really makes a big difference for me. I held off going from X to X4 as long as I could as I really liked X... but my hand was finally forced due to a graphics card update. So nice to see those separate windows again. I'll stay aware of the bugs.

Have a good one!
