How do I set Project Properties to AVCHD?

Post by PeterDuke »

When I select Settings>Project Properties, I only have two options: MPEG (SD MPEG2) and AVI. How do I set project properties to high definition such as AVCHD?

You can't. Corel has remained in the standard definition mindset with successive versions of VS, despite urgings from beta testers and users alike. But in reality, Project Properties have little meaning unless you use, at the end of editing, the command Share > Create Video File > Same As Project Properties. So in reality, what is more important is what you are intending to produce at the end of editing. If it is AVCHD, then you select Share > Create Video File > AVCHD... An AVCHD file will be produced and whatever the Project Properties were will be ignored.

Thanks for your reply. I hunted the user guide, this forum and the FAQs but could not find anything helpful. Perhaps we could have a sticky thread or a FAQ with your answer.

After posting I did a web search and came across your reply in another forum as well as a reviewer lamenting the lack of clear direction.

Hi

You can change the project properties to use 1920 x 1080 frame size using the Avi - Div X or Avi-Microsoft Video1 options. (there may be other options)

The only advantage would be if you wish to take a Snap Shot in "project playback" mode.
Your image would then use 1920 x 1080px.
