corel x5 and titler fx
hi,i have browsed through the threads but not found an answer.when i installed the titler fx plugin for x5 ultimate i can find the newblue titler ex in the fx dropdown but all that comes up when i click on it is the hot air balloons with 'enter text here' in the preview pain.am i missing something here? the only effects, transitions, videos etc that show up are the corel ones not any of the newblue ones.should the newblue titler ex open up the newblue editor or is it all done in the x5 program.thanks

I have moved your post to the Video Studio forum, which is where it should be. You are also more likely to receive more responses that way.
First, though, could you please clarify where the Titler plug-in came from? Was it included with X5? (I ask because I have X5 Ultimate yet no Titler filter appears in my FX... Moreover, there is no mention of Titler on the Corel.com web page for X5 Ultimate. Instead, Boris Graffiti is supplied as the advanced titling plug-in that comes with X5 Ultimate.)
Or did you buy the 'Pro' version of Titler? If so, then looking at the Tech Specs on NewBlue's website, it does not appear that Titler has any compatible plug-in for Corel...:

Re: corel x5 and titler fx
You need to drag the NewBlue Titler EX effect to a clip on the timeline, just as you do with any of the other effects. It does not work if you just click on the effect thumbnail. Doing that will only display the image of the balloons with the words "Enter Text." That can be confusing.
What I usually do is use a TIFF file of a transparent image that I've created in a graphic editor,. import it into VS, drag it to an overlay track and extend it to whatever length I need for the title to show, then drag the NewBlue Titler EX effect to that. After that I customize the filter attributes, the same way other effects are customized.

Re: corel x5 and titler fx
Hmmm... I must have missed something in my installation!
Must have a poke around!!!
EDIT: have now downloaded, installed an activated Titler on my editing computers, both running Windows 7, though one is 32 bit and the other (listed in my Profile) is 64 bit. The latter finally worked once I had activated the (switchable) main Radeon graphics card on the computer. Otherwise it told me the on-board Intel graphics also on the computer was insufficient to run Titler, even though I had X5 running on the Radeon.
However, the other computer, which has a respectable nVidia card, does not show Title at all on X5, even though it is there in the vft folder. So I will obviously need to work further on that installation!!
Initial impressions of Titler, though, are a bit negative. Seems rather simplistic. But I have only had a little play-around with it so far and my opinion may change. But off the cuff, I think I prefer Xara 3D or Bluff Titler as 3rd party titling applications. I am nowhere near mastering Boris...
