My apologies for not responding sooner to your concerns. Not to worry, Corel continues to support AfterShot Pro and are in development for the next planned product update, currently in beta.

Please stay tuned - we'll have more news as we get closer to the release.

Thanks for all your support.

Will that support include Linux versions?

I doubt that many of us would wish to take any marketing cant at face value at the present time.
You may believe what you read - I would prefer to see what actually happens. :(

I'm positive everyone on this forum is negative!

I've been involved in a lot of organizations where the biggest problem is communications.
Maybe, just maybe, Corel is so busy adding features to ASP that it hasn't time to communicate.

Is there actually any evidence that the team was fired and did not quit themselves? I know from personal experience that when a small IT company is bought, lots of things change. Things usually get more complicated, personal freedom suffers, etc. They may not have been satisfied with their situation and decided to start a new project.

A new dev team does not automatically lead to an end of all development. There may have been know-how transfer to new developers in the past months. Corel for sure has some experienced developers in that area who can take over in a reasonably short amount of time. It happens all the time, although usually not for entire teams.

As for "most I.T. managers have little understanding of the complexity of software": well, don't forget that many IT managers were not born as such but got into that position after working on a technical level first. I am one example, and it is a considerable group where I work.

In other words: it is too early to draw any conclusions.

I expect / hope that Corel will sort things out with ASP, their alternative raw processing option in PSP is pretty lame by comparison.

When is the planned release? Days, weeks, months away? Also, what's in development? Give me a little bit more of a teaser to get excited about!

Does personal conversation with all of them count?
It is easy to to contact them via G+ and other means. Just check for yourself.

I have known that crew for years. Me, Bernd, Marco and Markus have been helping them at Photokina since 2006.
So yes, I trust them. I have zero trust in Corel from whom I only get lame marketing messages.

Corel has a history here.....

cheers

My understanding is that Corel has recognised that they need a dedicated RAW converter for quite a while. Certainly in PSP X3 there was a greyed out tab offering a RAW upgrade. The rumours are that PSP X5 is due for September release. And this is after all of the negativity following the JASC takeover. But there has been continued development of PSP and it is still very much the alternative to Photoshop. My understanding is that Corel actually purchassed Bibble around the start of 2011. Presumably they have been knowledge transfering ever since. I do know that Bibble 5 was very late to market and then there was a constant stream of complaints about lack of updates. Maybe Corel got fed up with the old development team not fixing KR's issues.

The proof will be in the next update - both its timing and what it contains. I am pessimistic, but I'd like to be proven wrong.

Well I can agree with you on the communications problems of large organisations.

However I really cant see Corel entering into a reengineering or feature additions project for ASP as this would be against all past history. History repeats itself! Large corporates are slow to change and adjust. They just have large amounts of money which allows them to throw money at particular problems.
Still learning after all these years!

For me there is no issue. At the moment! The issue will be if/and/or when I upgrade my camera. For the time being ASP provides all my means. I guess many folks are in the same situation. Happy with what they have and will only start to jump up and down when they find there is no upgrade or new products.

My hope is that ASP IS dead. And that Corel integrates the features of ASP into one package such as PSPx5. They have tried to put RAW into PSP and it hasn't worked. So now I look forward to a 'one package does all' announcement in September as promised. :D

Maybe I an tooooo much of a dreamer.
