Plugins are not disabled.
But Corel neglected did not notify the plugin authors of changes that result in rather nasty behavior if not handled properly....

I wonder which cameras will be announced as supported by PSP X5 tomorrow.

Btw. who is currently taking care of the B5 forums, Corel or the former B5 crew? Seems as if it was completely handed over to spambots ...

Hi,

I also use Aftershot pro and like it very much. It has some niggles but I am shure they will be ironed out soon. After reading all the recent gossip I decided to download Paintshop Pro X5 and have a look at its RAW processing. Firstly, PSP X5 looks very promising, but I can't see any RAW workflow that would suggest that Corel are dumping Aftershot.

I actually believe that they are working very hard on ASP improvements and will bring out an update very soon!! :D

It's funny how everyone in this thread is bringing up all the points I've complained about in the past. Except back when I brought them up, I was told to shut up and take it because I didn't know any better. Now all these things are being bandied about as "all the signs that ASP was in trouble all along".

Go figure.

This is sad news for Bibble/ASP, especially in a historical context. But it's hardly surprising.

Then, it obviously would be a very heavy application, which might need very powerful machines to run correctly, excluding de facto light configs.
Bibble / ASP are fine for many users as they run on relatively old machines.
I, for instance, am currently using ASP on a 1,6 GHz Celeron DELL Latitude 600 laptop from 2006 with 1,5 Go RAM.
This machine is powerful enough for me, as I have no other need than processing my photos as an amateur. I don't earn any money with it, unlike those whose it's the livelihood.
I don't need Photoshop or other gas-works : I gave up with GIMP as it was getting heavier and too slow on my computer.
I don't want to have to buy a new machine just for processing a couple of photos (even if 10 000+ may be a bit more than this for a hobby  ) ; I rather go and buy a new lens, and have fun shooting.

But that's only my point of view.

As soon as I heard Corel purchased Bibble, I wrote it off  . Corel has a very poor track record, and even the Corel product(s) I owned and or tested were so pushy with the ads for the next release/upgrade that I just stopped using it all together - add bugs and no support and what you have is one time customers filling a large percentage of your customer base. I am sorry that Bibble is now gone, and we have one less option. I am still using CNX 2, and I may be in the same boat soon as aside from speculation, nothing on NX 3 has seen the light of day.

And AFX - your talents and your ability of helping others will transfer to whichever application path you choose in the future - which is more than I can say for Corel management :P

So you complain about Corel being pushy with ads for future releases/upgrades in a thread where most people complain about lack of communication from Corel regarding ASP? Can you see the irony?

Sorry but in my view this thread is more about personal frustration from a few users and some former beta-testers who for all I know may have been let go by Corel for not being good enough. Not trying to insult anyone here, I just have no definitive knowledge of whats going on, but the fact that a moderator starts a thread in a ASP support-forum with the subject: "Bye Bye AfterShot" and continues with: "Everything will be dead...." when what we have is this message from Corel, really makes you think, doesnt it?
"Corel continues to support AfterShot Pro and are in development for the next planned product update, currently in beta.

Stay tuned - we'll have more news as we get closer to the release."
So I'll continue using ASP until something happens. I absolutely refuse to worry about things that are beyond my reach and of which I have no knowledge other that rumours and I suggest that you all do the same.

I'm not sure about your workflow processing needs, but many of us "old Bibble/ASP" users are pretty serious about our photography. I personally have been using the product for over 6 years. I've demoed everything else on the market and Bibble/ASP, with all its failings is still far better than everything else. That said we've invested a lot of time into learning the product to get the most out of it, and out of our photos. Yes, even if ASP dies, I know I can still use it. For a while anyway, until I decide to buy the new Canon 8D or 9D. Then what? And I have to start all over learning new software? So I will buy LR soon and start to learn it side by side with ASP. But the time have to invest in learning a new product will take me away from shooting and marketing my work. So yes, this is a big deal to many of us. A friend said to me when he got the e-mail about the Corel purchase of Bibble, "Corel is where good software goes to die". That's the kind of reputation they have. I was hoping he was wrong. But many of us hung in there when it was clear Bibble as a company was faltering. Looks like I should have jumped ship over a year ago.

We have waited for over three years for Bibble 5 to be perfected, which was never completed now ASP (Corel) for about 7 months. Corel has indicated that an update is being finalized and I expect will be completed in the near future. A wait for a further month or two is warranted. Maybe the original "Bibble" team just did not meet the expectations of Corel.
