Hey guys I had the same exact problem with the conversion of the dvd before the burning and gave me the error code:
Convert step 4703 - ox8004125f(4703)
This was frustrating the hell out of me and so I realiazed it was happening on .avi file rips that had Divx coded in it.
So I went to http://www.divx.com and downloaded version 6.1 and installed it to my computer. I also downloaded Avid AVI CoDec 2.0d2 from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Avid_AVI_Codec.htm for my .avi files but I dont know if that helped out or not.
Since i've done this I havent received the error and reburned the same exact files that were giving me the problem.
Hope this helps you guys out

Ulead is stealing our money
I have given up on Ulead. I have wasted countless hours using DVD Movie Factory. I think everything that could possibly have gone wrong has.
I have gotten most of the way through some projects and it crashes and even sometimes when I add a file to a project it crashes back to the main screen.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled many, many times.... I have updated all of my drivers many times... I have tried different media..... I have tried different project settings..... I have tried different file codecs...... I have emailed their technical support and received no reply....
Enough is enough!!!!
If there is anyone else out there in a similar position to me, do what I did.....
Uninstall the piece of crap software and use something else!!!!
I am now using TMPGEnc DVD Author and even though it may not look as pretty as Ulead's attempt at software, it WORKS.
I don't understand how such a well known company as Ulead can get away with selling such crappy software and then offer no support when things go wrong. Some of the error messages that pop up while using this software are obviously written by somebody who cannot speak english.
I could go on and on about how bad this software is but I should stop.

I think I know the problem, but not the solution.
I have been burning DVD's of the Simpsons (earlier seasons). When I did season 2 I had no problem. But on season 3, I'm getting this dreaded message that Ulead seemingly refuses to address.
The ONLY difference between the season 2 files and the season 3 files is in the audio compression. Season 2 uses MPG2 compression, season 3 uses AC-3 compression.
I think DMF4.0 (and obviously all earlier versions) has a problem processing the audio when it's AC-3 compressed. I noticed when I went to the temporary convert folder, that the video had been converting to mpg, but without sound.
So where do we go from here, other than converting the original files using other software? For what we've paid, Ulead should solve the problem.

An answer to the program refusing to burn DVDs
I fought this same problem. Even tried saving the individual slideshows to DVD as someone suggested. I found one solution.
If a slideshow has music, there must be enough pictures to play the entire music selection for three seconds per picture, otherwise the error will occur when the program tries to compile the slideshows. This won't solve all problems, but may help some users struggling with the software.

Isn't that something how the program runs on your machine versus mine (or many others).
I believe most of these problems is the versatility of the Windows operating system. Every persons computer can be setup differently with hardware/software combinations. codecs, drivers etc. Unlike a MAC machine where your locked into a specific hardware/software combination. It's much easier to write computer code for a hardware specific machine like a MAC. You can beta-test software because of the specific hardware devices to address.
Writing code for the windows environment is a nightmare (in my opinion). It's next to impossible to address all the hardware devices available to a x86 windows based machine.
But, I dare not complain. This x86 windows system(s) has generated many jobs and brought the price of computers, equipment etc to an all time low. Who would have ever though equipment would be this cheap in price.

The DirectX interface was supposed to solve these issues
The only other price we have to pay is one has to become a computer nerd to make everthing work together properly. Unless you purchase a turn-key windows based system.
I'm using MF4. If I load in a long song to a slideshow and the time is to short between pictures a pop-up screen appears telling me to add more pictures or change the preview time of the picture(s).

Same problem happenning here
I have an up to date version of MF4. I recieve the same Convert step error message and number (4703).
The software was working fine until I added an AVI formated Video file and created a test menu.
I agree, with the work around. Even I can work around the problem, I paid for it, it better function as advertised.

Re: Same problem happenning here
Just as a follow-up. I had problems burning the DVD and getting an error when one of the files was an AVI format. I changed it over to an Mpeg and was able to burn a DVD without incident as well.
