I got it to work beautiful! As I said the file was AVI, I changed it to MPEG and it worked like a charm. Much faster too!! Thanks for all the help. I'm good for now at least until my next snafu. 8) Don

How do I do that? I think Ulead Data-Add is the cause of that problem. I had MF 3.5 installed and Nero for a long time. Burned many disks many ways with no problem but then I got problems burning a DVD with MF and now it seems to happen 10% of the time even using Nero. One time Nero froze and as I tried to cancel it out I got a window saying XP was having trouble closing Ulead Data-Add, though I was running no Ulead apps just whatever software they run in the background.

:( I am also having big problems with version 4.04.
On DVD disk to Disk copy. All works fine with Image File being created and the burn working right up to Finalizing disk at the 100% mark. Then a message appears 'Ulead copy.now failed to Write Cache data' . Leaving
another dead disk.
My Movie Factory is a fully paid up version and having problems registering it
as have forgotten password to Ulead Support and am not getting any response to emails to them.
Any help with the problem would be reallly appreciated as I live in New Zealand and contacting firms in USA can be difficult.

One of the errors it gave me is

Failed to record data to the disc
Error. DVD+R-SPTI-2A-02-03-0C-00

ulame,

Re. removal of Data-Add.

Go Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, Change or Remove Programs, Select Ulead Data-Add, click on Change/Remove.

Removing Data-Add didn't help. Someone said try removing the Adaptec ASPI layer so I guess I will try that next.

I've had all Target failure problems listed in this post.
I replaced my DVD Rewriter LG GSA-4082B for brand new GSA 4167B for less than £30.00 - now works a treat.
I had my rewriter for two years - burning an average of 2 DVD's per week - still ok but I was getting 60 / 40 fail rate - the new burner is great.

ulame,
What is the make/model of your dvd writer.
Who makes the dvd's your trying to use and what is their speed ratingand format dvd+r or dvd-r?

If your trying to write at the highest speed manually lower that setting
to 2x or 4x. Start with 2x first and then 4x etc.

Try using rewriteable dvd's such as dvd-rw or dvd+rw. Saves on wasting
dvd's.

BenQ 1620. It happens with all kinds of DVD+R. Even the best ones like TY and Verbatim and I always burn one speed lower than top. Even slower it still happens. Rewritable is only a workaround not a solution. I guess I will just give up on all Ulead software. Like I said it is strange because I have burned 100's of DVDs with no problems and this started all of a sudden while I update nothing.

I believe Nero and other programs may need those ASPI drivers.

Hardware or Software problem.
Usually tough and aggravating to figure out. Time consuming.

Once had a similar problem, ended up being a bad memory chip.
Didn't showup all the time and XP booted fine. That's the bad thing
about using non-ecc memory (everyone uses it).

Maybe Tom's Hardware page can give suggestions and links to some diagnostic programs.
I use Nero 7, Data-Add, MF4, Ulead Quick-Drop. They all work.
MF4 burns dvd's. I usually create dvd folders first on the harddisk, then
check the menu structure and if everything is OK then use either Data-Add
or Nero to burn the Video-Dvd.

Goodluck, I know what your going through.

DVD slideshow won't burn

I tried the suggestion to make an ISO file and then burn it using Nero. Unfortunately, I get the same problem as the other writer:
'Convert Step got Some Problems'
(4703)

'Unspecified Error'
Report ID: 0x8004125 (4703)

My next step is to uninstall MF4, and reinstall it, in hopes that then the update patch will then work (a separate problem). Any other ideas?

Unless I'm mistaken that isn't a burning error.

That's an error produced by MF during file conversion. (Before the
burning of the media). It's preping and converting the files before burning.

Something with the source material or not enough hard drive
space for the working folder and temp files.

I agree that the problem isn't a burning issue. What I don't know is what the solution is. I've tried uninstall/reinstall (including removing all registry entries). The inability of the update to install isn't helping.

ulead dvd factory 4 has a bug that needs fixed! Noone can burn anything including myself. I try to burn a simple DVD with my external burner, and right before it starts to write, I get an error "...Step might have some problems..." what crap.
