there might be something conflicting with the burning process. not sure about the error but its either a conversion error or a burning error. see if you have other packet writing software installed cause it may affect the burning process.

If you have Ulead's Data Add proram installed, you could try removing it.

I have the same error! Looks like were going to have to try to help ourselves. Maybe we can find a common link? I also have Nero installed on my computer. I noticed someone mentioned that earlier. Anybody else?

Hey donzz I also have Nero installed.

Do you think that might have something to do with it?

Hmm, It's a possibility! Lets see if we get anymore replies. I'll keep experimenting in the meantime! Just for the heck of it, I took the project it made (just before burning) and brought it in DVD Shrink, and it worked great. That gets me by, but it's not right or what I paid for! So, let me know if you hear anything.

UPDATE:
I uninstalled Nero and it didn't make one bit of differents. Back to the drawing board! Don

Don,
Are you running out of time with the trial version?

You can have Nero on the machine at the sametime as MF4 with some knowledge of what's going on.

Roxio software can conflict with Nero so it's best to decide on one of those.
Do NOT install Nero InCD unless you really need it when installing Nero software.

When you install Mf4 you can leave out:
Quick-Drop and the Auto-launching feature.

If your having trouble burning a Dvd with MF then use the harddisk method.

On the burning stage of MF4 click on the arrow on the right side of the screen.
(this will show more burning options)
Un-check "Record to disc".
Check ON "Create disc image file" click on the folder on the right and select a location and filename to have the image file created. This filename will have an extension of .ISO (Write down the location so you can remember where the file is, you will need that information later to burn the dvd).

Click on the "Burn" icon to create the ISO file on the harddisk.

Now that the .ISO file is created on the harddisk you can use most any dvd recording software to burn that .ISO file to DVD.
You can use Nero or Roxio or MF.
I use Nero version 6 or 7.

To burn with MF4 from the "Main Launcher Screen" make sure to click on the DVD icon at the top of the screen.
Select "Copy or Fit Disc" -> 'Burn Image to Disc"
At the top of the burning screen Load the Image file you created.
Select the correct DVD burner.
Click on the "Down Arrow" Next to the "Copy" Icon to display advanced burning optiions.
Change the "Write Speed" to a suitable LOW value such as 2X or 4X.
(You can experiment with faster burning later).
The burning selection speed is also based on the DVD you have in the drive.
Make sure "Buffer underrun protection" is ON.
Hit "Copy" and burn the DVD.

Hope this helps,

MD

Mad, First thanks for the reply! I have the full paid version of MF-4, so time is not an issue. I emailed tech support on the error issue. Hopefully they reply in a timely manner. I have found work arounds for the problem but my feeling is that if I paid for a product that is supposed to do the burning of my dvds then it should work. Anyway, i'm still experimenting trying to figure it out on my own. The movie I was trying to burn was in the AVI format. I'm redoing it now in MPEG 2 to see if that makes a differents. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Don

Have you installed the lates patch? The fixes seems to include some of the problems described.

http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf_ftp.htm

I haven't had any problems with MF4, but, I have the version included in MSP8.

As far as Ulead programs creating disks the jury is still out.

I usually have the Uled program (VS9, MF4 and Burn Now) create a Folder or disk image and burn disk with Nero.

With Ulead Programs I can create coasters approximately 99% of the time.
With Nero my coaster rate is .05%.

Hi,
Yes, usually I create DVD Folders on the Harddisk to test the dvd
then use Nero to burn a Dvd-Video Dvd.
Another nice feature with Nero is the "Verify" feature.
Takes time but it's worth it to verify the write.
