some bugs and some suggs

ok, I've been saving these up since b4. Most are from b5 but have carried over into asp since that's all it is. Excuse me if some of these have been fixed as I haven't used asp enough to find them or wanted to. Some of these maybe should be on the wish list but they're all broken to me.

I'm know there's more I can't remember but I'm sure I'm too late for the next version. If it doesn't perform as promised for the last four years before the next paid upgrade I certainly won't be spending any more.


01 Fix the white balance. Make it also work on tiffs. It does in aperture.

02 Make layers work better. Way slow and unstable and difficult.

03 Same ongoing crop crash - many crashes while cropping since b5.

04 New settings copy crash - copy settings window sometimes hangs or crashes. And bring back, from b4, copy last copied check boxes. What a mistake losing that was.

05 Slow pipeline processing- causes redos because on subtle or intensive adjustments it looks like nothing is happening, so after waiting a really long time, I try adjusting again – it needs a progress bar or some indicator.

06 After a crash, resume does not go back exactly where you were. Same with show original file – find the exact file – not just the folder. Every other show file program shows the exact file – not its general location.

07 Keywords – worst in the world. Do something. Make it like adobe bridge. Check aperture for iptc management.

08 The new dble click on a single image goes to 100% instead of going to image view. What's the point of a 100% button?

09 Really slow batch processing since b5. Very fast in b4. Same with thumbnail generation.

10 Make a file type filter to sort separate file types - i.e, hide all jpegs.

11 Rendered defaults - separate for jpeg and tiff and choice to not have jpeg xmp created. Too much folder clutter. Let me edit settings also from the prefs window.

12 Stop! renaming my output files or file names in the windows. If I have characters that asp doesn't like, let me worry about that. Don't show me a file with : instead of /. If I have ?, /, dble space or anything I like DON'T change it - alert me if you must. The forum does this to my posts also. I write in a word processor with all markings, fonts, and symbols and just want to paste it in without having it reformatted or having to underline everything again. Stupid.

13 DON'T MOVE ANYTHING. Wherever I go, when I go back one step don't move the window, the pic position, the list, the thumbnail window, the zoom – nothing. I expect to go back exactly where I was.

14 Show shot info always, like b4, along the bottom or wherever – customizable. I don't want to go through metadata menus. Show file origin – b5, asp, photos***? Lots of wasted gui space right now.

15 Bring back pixie/pixeldust – raw noise does NOT do the same thing and does nothing on tiffs.

16 Buy all plugins and make them corel. Don't like depending on so many wild cards for continuing workflow into the future. Retain developers as needed. Why are they going to keep updating for free?

17 Get rid of discrete zoom and allow any size including smaller than standard window.

18 Lock files button – no accidental erase.

19 Button to change slider action – so it goes to where you click – not just 10 units more. Like audio sliders do.

20 Make pngs available for text edit.

21 Get rid of the horrible keyword system. Look at bridge.

22 Obtain the full perfectly clear system with adjustments.

23 Substantially improve image IQ, noise, highlights, shadows.

24 Custom gui.

25 Fix demosaicing.

26 Use graphic converter as a parameter choice model.

27 Work on making the batch list easier to work with. If it says [vname][ext] include the example next to/in it - [cloud 001][jpeg] like many do

28 Auto CA correction without having to build my own database.

29 Fix the lens database. Stop choosing the wrong one.

30 Memory hogging. I open with 2 GB of ram and within minutes I have only 10 MB available. Bogs down and I have to keep freeing mem with a utility. What happened to the clear cache button?

31 Gradfilters for all – color, sharpening, tone, noise, etc. or make make it much easier in layers.

32 Fix the awful magnifier. I don't need it waving all around and dragging way behind the pointer.

33 Make refresh of folder/file automatic when changing anything. Picasa does this.

34 Add user choices to the sort menu. Hardly ever want to sort by meter mode or flash.

35 Pausing a batch usually leads to a hang or crash.

36 Stacking five tiny windows into the meta tab is useless. It should be on it's own full length tab that shows the info I want. Like aperture.

interesting read. some very viable bugs.
but lots of opinionated stuff, which means everyone else wishes are as good as yours.
try to seperate those, because just saying "software X is better, do it like them"
doesnt say anything helpful and it means that you are using the wrong software.

Maybe these will finally to be addressed, now that Corel have sacked the original development team - hopefully we'll see them replaced with developers who actually fix problems and bugs instead of steadfastly ignoring them for years on end in favour of tooling around adding bells and whistles.
