Cannot change project property above 720x480

Post by westlight »

Why can't I set project properties above 720x480?

I don't know if there's something different about VS X5 compared to my first version 5 years ago when it comes to setting the Frame Size in Project Properties. I have an original clip to edit shot at 1440x1080, 24bit, Upper Field, 29.97fps. I am unable to change the Project Properties to a frame size over 720x480.

I posted a similar question several years ago and the fix was to first go into: Project Properties> Compression>Media Type>change to mpg, then go back into the General Settings and the additional sizes would be available. (Something like that) Now, in VS X5 under Media Type I do not see that Mpg option. Down lower in the Compression window the video format is grayed out at MPEG-2 if that matters.

Thanks for any help on what I'm sure is a very simple oversight on my part.

If you are using VS X5, you may want to do it this way.

SETTINGS > PROJECT PROPERTIES (ALT + ENTER) > At the lower part of the screen you'll see Project TEMPLATE PROPERTIES (MPEG) should already be selected > Click EDIT button > Go to GENERATE TAB and you can also adjust the COMPRESSION settings on COMPRESSION TAB.

Thanks bu that's were I've been... but in the Project Options window with the Compression tab selected, under the Media Type drop-down I have 2 options. NTSC DVD or PAL DVD. Under Video Format MPEG-2 is in a greyed out window. Other options deal with Audio settings and Video Data Rate.

Anywhere else that something I might have selected during set up is preventing me from having these other options available?

Thanks

No, you haven't missed anything. Corel in their wisdom has limited things. But in a sense Project Properties are largely irrelevant. I never even look at them. The important thing is the format properties of your output video. The only thing you have to remember is NOT to use ''Same as Project Properties'' when selecting your output if it is anything other than a DVD.

Hi

If you are wanting to take a screen shot then you may need to up the Project Properties frame size.

You can do this by choosing the AVI option and setting Microsoft Video 1 as the compression.
There may be others that will allow frame size changes, maybe Divx??

You will have to use User Defined from the General tab to set the frame size 1920 x 1080 will give you 16:9 ratio.
