Instant Project "How Created" Question
In looking at the Instant Projects, most of them have some type of introductory video in the video track, and have some overlays where smaller versions of videos fly into appropriate spots in the video track video. How is the video on the video track created in such a way that overlays align perfectly with the spots reserved for them?

Re: Instant Project "How Created" Question
Hi
Some of the clips used are called place holders, these are replaced using your own clips, most will be Image/Photo types.
The clips are placed in the timeline in the correct position, most will use the Picture in Picture filter to animate the image.
You can replace a clip by right click, "replace clip". However you will be best to use images having the same size, document size in pixels, at least the same aspect.
Select a clip, then view the attributes tab to the right, if a filter has been applied, click customise to view the settings.
If you wish to explore these further tell us which one you are referring to, and what version of Video Studio are you using.?

Re: Instant Project "How Created" Question
Thanks. I have been replacing the placeholder clips and it has worked fine. What I am curious about is how they create some of the Instant Projects, specifically, how do they create the video track with "cut-outs" that the overlay track clips fit perfectly into. As an example, in "Beginnings" in T15 and T16, the main video track has white shapes that are the perfect shape for the overlay tracks to overlay pictures into. It is really just curiosity on my part as to how that is accomplished.
Thanks for your responses. I am using Video Studio Pro X5.

Re: Instant Project "How Created" Question
As already indicated above, they are made using the New Blue picture-in-picture filter, and that in turn uses masks to provide the shapes in which the inserts go on the overlay track. That filter even provides some frames you can use to highlight the shape further. There are a couple of good video tutorials on using the filter which can be found on You-Tube, though I am afraid I don't have the URL...

Re: Instant Project "How Created" Question
Hi
Viewing IP T15 the top track contains a video sample, this has been created by Corel as a sample.
If you right click the clip in the timeline, choose "locate on Computer" will show the file on the hard drive.
Choose Properties and it will show details, its a wmv file.
Delete the place-holders 1,2,3 then play the blue clip to see the effect.
Press undo to restore the deleted clips.
Double click Placeholder 1, this will open the Options panel
The "fade in Fade out" ramps have been applied
No filters
Edit tab shows Pan & Zoom has been applied
In this template P-in P has not been used
