Mecalli problem..window/border bouncing around

Post by westlight »

I've been trying to apply this to previously rendered clips and this may be the reason for the problems but help would be appreciated.

I'm a bit baffled as to why when I apply the Mercalli stabilizer filter I end up with a video where the surrounding black border is bouncing all over the place. I've just be applying it to a few different short clips in different formats using the filters default settings. Same results. It seems like it's analyzing the video without actually applying it? I'm guessing since I VERY seldom use any of the filters that I'm missing a step?

Insert clip into timeline.
Drag Mercalli filter onto clip.
Click "options" then "customize filter"
Using default setting...Universal Camera, 40% pan shot smoothing, Avoid border selected @30% strength,(tried changing a few of these)
Analyze
Playback clip
Share
then do a lot of swearing. (tried changing a few choice words)

Hi

What black border are you referring to.

If your video file is widescreen then it should fit the screen without any black borders.
If you are using the library video clips, then they may produce a black border as they are 4:3.
Change the project properties to 4:3, Settings-deselect enable widescreen 16:9

Ok
Try using the first clip from the library, this is 4:3, do you still have problems.

If you change the background colour, (F6) this will help you identify the actual frame shape.

What are the properties of your video file..........
Does the video require a lot of stabilising
