I previously had this software installed on my PC but did not use it for a long time. When I tried to run it, it won't initialize. Unistalled VideoPro X4 via Control Panel and then reinstalled it using original installation CD. When I click X4 icon on desktop, splash screen opens but program keeps hanging. There is an hourglass too but nothing happens. Unistalled again now using a program found on Corel web page. Reinstalled again and the same happened. Downloaded VSProX4_SP2 from Corel web page. Reinstalled software again and run VSProX4_SP2 and still the same. Emptied windows temp files just in case using command %temp% and try to reinstall again. When I click on icon, splash screen shows up and again it keeps hanging in there forever.
Any suggestions, please advise and thank you for your time and knowledge.

Re: Corel VideoPro X4 reinstallation issue
Hi
Welcome to the forums.............
Sorry you are having problems running the program
You seem to have covered most of the options in getting the program running.
Things to try
Make sure you are logged on to the PC as Administrator.
Try running the program as admin--right click the programs icon and select "Run As"
Create a new account on the PC----Re-Install the program using this account.
-------------------
When you first start Video Studio a folder called en_US is created here:-
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0\en-US
Please delete this folder, then try to start VS, again as admin
Another user with a similar problem found that this folder was not fully created , the folder called ukMgrCache contained a lot of files, these are temporary files and should be automatically removed. The folder I see is empty.
and another user re-installed the operating system.

Re: Corel VideoPro X4 reinstallation issue
I sent an e-mail to Corel support and I did everything they suggested plus the following:
Reinstalled VSPX4 again, same thing, the splash screen keeps hanging together with the hourglass. Uninstalled once more. Downloaded SP1 and SP2. Was able to run SP2. When I tried to run SP1 got following message: "your system has not been modified. To complete installation please run setup again. Finish to exit the wizard". The other two video editing programs that I have installed on same PC run perfectly well. There were no conflicts between them because as I mentioned in previous e-mails I was able to run any of them including VSPX4 the first time I installed. I don't know what else to do but forget installing VSPX4 and lose the money I spent to buy it. If you need info about software in stallion key number or anything else, please let me know, as well as any other suggestion. I forgot to mention that I even tried to install under safe mode but to no avail. It gave me the following error; error 1719 windows installer service. However when I go to Windows database page and follow instructions to verify if I have installed the latest version or if there is an error regarding windows installer, I can see no error and that I have installed the latest version. May be this error shows up when trying to install under safe mode.
Corel support e-mail:
You may want to try manually removing VideoStudio Pro X4 from the computer (instructions from the link below) then install the following updates.

Re: Corel VideoPro X4 reinstallation issue
Hi
When Corel brought out X4 --- SP1 followed. They then included SP1 in the new installation files, you seem to have one of these versions, so when you try to install SP1 you will get the error message, Not that there is a problem, just that SP1 is already included.
It was a bit remiss of Corel to update the file and keep the original version number.
SP2 should install as normal, try re-installing SP2 and the error will pop up.
Re-naming the warning to "its already installed" would make more sense.
Having tried all the suggestions from Corel Support, did you tell them you still encounter the same error, i assume you have?
-------------------
Did you try running/installing the program from a new user account?
-------------------
To be honest I just dont know........drastic measures
Uninstall every Corel/Ulead product
Delete purge the PC of every Corel / Ulead files left over
Search the registry and delete every Corel/Ulead entry, Take care when working in the registry.
Re-install the operating system.
Good luck
