erase layer, and change a color

Post by Kinz »

A while ago someone told me how, after changing a photo to B&W, to color back in a section to the original colors, but can I change those colors to a different color? Like if I wanted to change a hat from red to green. Thanks

Yes, multiple ways to do that.

You can use commands like "Colorize" or "Hue/Saturation/Lightness" to change the color of the entire colored layer. Or just portions of the image by making selections over it.

You can use similar adjustment layers and mask out the areas you don't want those adjustments to effect.

You can create a loose selection and use the "Change to Target" brush or the Color Changer tool.

You can also create a loose selection around the area you want to change the color of, right-click on the layer and promote the selection to its own layer.

You can also create a blank layer over the colored portion, draw using the paint brush over the area with the color you want, then change the blend mode to "Color" or "Hue" and change the color that way.

And those are just the ones I can think of.

Lordy! That's a lot of choices. Thanks, I'll try one or more and see how it goes.

You can use the color changer, here a tutorial that I made using PSP X2 Ultimate but you can still apply it to newer versions of PSP.
