Can Corel help me out here?

Post by GeekRichieUK »

I don't know what I can do, but spending £26 is not an option, I just don't have that kind of money right now...

Situation - Paint Shop Pro 9 had stopped working for me in recent months, so I decided to try the new version (X4) - During the trial everything worked fine, but when I was half way through the price changed from below £30 to £60. I called customer services up and asked them if they would be able to sell it at the value when I began my trial. They declined... As I couldn't afford £60, I went and bought PaintShop Pro X3 for £20 from Amazon. Unfortunately, I've gone to install it today since my trial ended and lo-and-behold X3 shares the same problem as 9, it doesn't like my graphics card.

So yeah, I paid £20 for a version of Paint Shop Pro that doesn't work with my system, with no hope in sight for an update to fix it. But now, I look for the price of PSP X4 and its gone down again - not as much as it was originally but still...

Why couldn't the customer services staff offer it to me for the original price when I called if it was only going to be off sale for a window of 2 weeks or so? I'm so gutted because my job is falling through because of lack of business, I've barely got enough hours to pay the bills let alone pay to upgrade software I just bought... and I was hoping to get everything I need sorted so I can get some design work in to help me get some money coming in, but instead, its just bad luck after back luck with this software and I'm getting no-where.

Hi

It is not often that Corel visit this forum and unlikely that any official Corel person will read your post.

There are two types of Paint Shop.
Paint Shop Pro X4 --------- Paint Shop Pro X4 Ultimate, afaik both programs are identical with the ultimate being bundled with additional software.

The prices vary depending on which you choose.

You can purchase the full version or the upgrade version, you have to be eligible to purchase the upgrade by owning an older version. the price is reduced for the upgrade version.

Owning X3 will allow you to purchase the upgrade, but make sure your X3 version is indeed eligible by registering the product on the Corel web site.
Upgrade Paint Shop Pro (not Ultimate) @ £26.99 from Corel UK site dated today
----------------------
Tip...
Worldwide prices do differ somewhat, viewing Corel US may prove useful, however you should purchase the download version. The prices you see are subject to UK Vat so add 20%, even so should be cheaper than the UK.

If the system that you using where PSP X4 is not working is the same system that you have listed on your Forum Profile, then I don't see any problem why the program will not work on system. so more information is needed for this.

Can you tell us what exactly happens?
Any error messages?
If you are using a different computer, giving that system specs will be helpful to forum users as well.

Cheers!

Don't panic about price changes. Register any version of corel that you have and get on the mailing list. Over the last 6 months I have seen X4 ultimate advertised on website for $120, I purchased on a special at $89 and since then have seen in email newsletters special sales for 2 days or a week , $90 , and recently $77. So it appears a bit like airline special sales. Just be patient and now you know X4 works on your system, grab it when the price suits.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867
