Print size

Post by brucet »

My brain is failing cos I can't figure out how to get a print larger than 33.333 inches.

I have an opportunity to get a photo printed by a professional printer. He can print up to 1 metre wide. (39 inches). I have a photo that is 16.4 inches x 10.84 inches. (4920x3253 at 300dpi). I want to keep the 300 dpi. But every time I try to resize I hit a 33.333 limit in PSPx4. (making use of the metre width I can go to approx 1.3 metres long).

So what's the issue. Has PSPx4 got a limit on size? Have I missed a setting somewhere? Have I hit a memory issue?

Help.

PSPX4 has a file size limit of 10,000x10,000 pixels.

39 pixels per inch at 300dpi is 11,700 pixels.

So, you can put it into a different program or an older version of PSP that had a limit of 32,727. We never got a real reason for this limitation in X4.

So if you want to get the size there in X4 you'll need a dpi(ppi) of 256 which isn't bad. And honestly 300dpi is only really important in cases where you want people viewing the image up close. The further away you get the lower the required dpi(ppi) to look decent.

Thanks.
Now that I read your answer I remember the limit.

The photo is for a large canvas so dpi is not critical. But I was not sure of the printers so I wanted to give them as large as possible dpi. I was just stumped by x4 refusing to go larger.
