Re-Arranging Panels in VSPro5

Post by rbmoving »

I have been trying to swap the Library Panel with the Previewer......so that the Previewer is on the Right Top and the Library on the Left Top...and the story line unchnaged. When I drag the Previewer to the Right Top....it will remian where I place it but covers up part of the Library. I just want to swap positions of these 2 panels......without covering up either...can that be done? If yes, than I must be failing to do something because...I have not been sucessful....I can move all the panels around.....but when doing so they always overlap\cover other panels.......

Hi

Press F7 to set defaults
Drag the library panel left, you will notice 4 blue arrow anchor points, continue to drag the mouse over the far left arrow and drop

Settings-Layout settings to save your workspace.

Hope this works???

In order for me to evn move a panel I must click on the "....." symbol that is loctaed in the upper left corner of the panel I want to move....then I can drag the Panel.....but the Panels are totally free floating....I can Minimize the Corel program and actually drag the panel selected totally outside of the main software.....but I have not been able to move the Preview Panel, for that matter, any panel, to a different location within the main body of the Software without the Panel I have moved covering up a portion of the Software itself. As I move the selected Panel that I am dragging around within the Software the Blue Arrows do appear...I have actually gotten the panels to be in 3 toally individual windows...the Library, the Timeline, and the preview....and by going to Settings, Layout Settings, Switch To..."Default"....the Software returns to its normal view.......

What I am trying to accomplish, and maybe it is not possible, is to have the Preview panel on the right and the Library on the Left.....keeping the current sizes of these panels..........and neither panel covering up portions of the other.......it would simply be a swap of these 2 panels....as to positioning.....

Yes,,,,and even after I made the change one time, then back to the default....it took me a few tries before I got the right move. When you click the panel and move it and the panel goes transparent blue.....it takes practice to position the panel you are moving to anchor is the place where you want it and not cover other areas of the Software. If you click hold and move the panel but you are not right on the area....and in my case the margin of error is minor movement of the panel......the panel you are moving will be floating....and you can actually, with the software minimized....move it outside the software borders....Bottomline, your response provided me with the direction needed to accomplish my objective...Thank You

Hi

Glad you managed to reposition the panels.

When you drag the panel, drag the mouse cursor over the left arrow then drop. the panels should lock in place.

Learning curve is getting better.....

Finally downloaded and installed SmartTracks Music....not sure that was a "Smart" thing to do. Some of the Music installed requires a purchase.....that didn't make me happy. I can see the folder were this SmartTrack Music was installed...I may delete it. Most of the music I sampled would not be music I would ever use....no sense in letting it take up space on my HD.

The other issue is the Sound Effects. This may be picky...the Door bell sound effect Labeled S16......I would have liked to see it labeled Door bell......or at least when you highlite it, the window that opens shows you Door bell. My memory is not always the best so to try to remember each Sound effect by its S"X" label won't be easy for me. I may just have to play each one...write it down on paper with its' actual name sound. Don't know if I delete the Folder with SmartTracks sound if it will also delete the Sound effects....or the Sound effects are built into VS...

Hi rbmoving

Do not delete any files for the time being, modifying the program may cause an error, you may end up re-installing the program.

The Auto Music panel is not that intuitive, seems like they have made it complicated by design.

Yes there is the option to purchase further clips, you do not need to do this, there should be sufficient smart sounds for you to use.
I have a look and provide a few screen shots that may help.

Hi

Select the Scope as Owned Titles
Filter as Albums

The Sub-filter shows a list New Standards, Full Spectrum and Core Foundations are the main categories.

"Music" selects the individual tracks + variations

-----------------------

Disable Smart Sound Store, they just trying to sell you more tracks.

Select Smart Sound Quicktracks, opens a new window
Internet Tab
Deselect Automatically Download previews
then Clear Preview Cache.

---------------------

Now I need help regarding the Sound Effects

I can see the Scope option and set to Sound Effect
The Filter is available.

Whatever I choose I do not see any clips?

The actual files reside on the pc here:-
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X5\Samples\Audio

I could of course simply import then to the main library, using them from there.
But you seem to be accessing them from Smart Sound?

I must be "Losing it"! I know I typed a response to your last post about 5 hours ago...."but its not here". So here it comes again.....

First you got it backwards, you don't need my help, it is me who needs yours. You are right, within the SmartTrack Panel, although you can select Sound Effects.....you can not sample any of the sounds....so my question being a newbe would be, why even have it displayed?

My Sound Effects are located in the "Sample" tab of the Library....and there of course you can sample them and drag them down into your Project. If I click on Video, Photo and Audio i have under the sample tab:
I01 - I28 that appear to be video clips
M01 - M15 which is Music Clips
P1 - P5 which appears to be some sort of grahpic Clips
S01 - S25 which are the Sound Effects
V01 - V21 Video clips

Many of these for me, I see little value. I have no idea how these clips got into the Sample tab.....whether that is how they installed, or by accident I put them there?????????

My point as to the Sound effects.....instead of Corel designing VS and make me remember P13 is a Phone ringing it would be more user friendly to label P13...Phone....or, when you place your mouse pointer over P13...the window pops open and reads Phone Ring.........

Sorry I mislead you......blame it on my inexperience with this software........

Hi rbmoving

Well is seems we both were a little confused, I have to say that i never saw the option for Sound Effects in the Auto Music, it is there but does little. You did get me looking and trying to get it working, in vane i'm afraid............

Ok the sound effects clips in the library.
You can re-name the library clips, this does not change the names on the hard drive.

Click the S16, "the letters S16" and they will highlight, type in your own description.

But yes you are correct they should give the files a more meaningful name.
--------------------------
Library clips are just thumbnails representing the files on the hard drive.
If you wish you can delete/remove them from the library, right click the clip for options.
The files remain on the hard drive allowing you to import should you wish to use them.
--------------------------
I export the library as a backup, settings - library manager.
I have one exported with no content, a blank library.

Once you have renamed the library clips, export it to backup.

Hope this all makes sense............

Oh, if you have lost it, when you find it can you give it to me, cos i think i need it :D  :)

Just a footnote -- I too have no idea why Sound Effects appear under Auto Music but are inactive there. But I don't think they are provided by SmartSound anyway. While SmartSound has been around in VS for several versions, this was not always the case, yet sound effects have been provided for longer than that.

Certainly SmartSound has their own Sound Effects -- in fact I have two of their discs for this. But as with other SmartSound music apart from those actually included with VS, you have to pay a fairly hefty price to obtain the discs.
