Hello! I've been searching and trying to see if there's a way that I can make my video right under 500mb, basically so I can have the best quality possible but still be under Vimeo's 500mb upload limit. It's not a long video, it's slightly under 2 minutes, but I've tried about 10 different export options and they're either around 100mb and the quality is awful, or they're gigantic files.
Is there a way that I can set it to close to 500mb?
I'm using Video Studio Pro X5. Thank you!
How do I make video export right under 500mb?

Hi
Welcome to the forums
The standard options from Share Upload to Web should give you a reasonable quality. Mpeg4
----------------------------------------
The settings you use should reflect your original video properties, as they ultimately set the quality you should expect.
So can you give details, right click a clip and select properties, what are they.?
Copy and Paste the windows details to create a Jpeg, then add as attachment to your post.
There is a Make Movie Templates Manager that will allow you to create your own template, increasing the sizes to 1920 x 1080 full HD will produce the best quality, but the largest file size.

Re: How do I make video export right under 500mb?
Hi Trevor,
Thanks for your response! Hm, I tried the MPEG4 and wasn't happy with it...I think because my video is composed of some close up shots of food.
So, I wonder if this is part of the problem. Part of the video was done in 1280x720, but then part of it was done in 640x424, because when editing in corel video studio x5, when I played the 1280x720 clips back, it wouldn't play in real time, it would lag too much. I thought that I should start shooting in 640x424 to remedy that (does it indeed help?)
Where is the Make Movies Template Manager? I can't seem to find that. Or is it a separate program?

Hi
Some of the highly compressed formats can be troublesome when editing. You may have to consider converting the files to a more editable format maybe using "Super" but...
You do not give details of the video files,. if you right click a clip in the timeline, select properties, it should show the video files details and the compression type.
Your 640 x 424 is quite small regarding frame sizes, not 4:3 or 16:9.
640px would display as approx 8 inch as its full size on a 72dpi monitor. The 1280 x 720 option should give much better quality giving a full screen display.
When editing 1280 x 720 make sure you have Smart Proxy enabled and that Proxy files have been created. This may help timeline playback.
Video for You Tube generally uses 1280 x 720 but full quality HD 1920 x 1080 can be used.
From Settings you should find the Smart Proxy Manager, view the File Manager to make sure the files have been created?
Also Settings is the location of the Make Movie Templates Manager.

Re: How do I make video export right under 500mb?
Ack sorry!!! I took the screenshots and forgot to attach them. I attached properties for both the 720 and the 640. You know, I'm planning to re-film the 640 parts anyway so I'll make sure to do it in 720 again!
I will definitely try that SmartProxy thing when playing back, hopefully it will help. I'm doing short 2 second bursts of clips, and they line up with the music, so it's really hard to time when it lags so much.
Thanks for all your tips, I'm curious what you will have to say about the properties. You have been so helpful, thank you again.

Re: How do I make video export right under 500mb?
Hi
My first thoughts were Canon camera???
I have a Canon 7D which produces similar properties.
The Compression type has not been recognised by Video Studio i think it should read AVC-H264.
I don't know why there is no audio for the second video the 1280 x 720, are you able to record without audio?
Again using the Share Upload to Web option should produce quite good video (Mpeg4-1280 x 720)
You can see the properties used to render the file in the lower panel, prior to clicking Save

Re: How do I make video export right under 500mb?
Hi Trevor,
It's actually a Nikon D5100. Canon 7D...that's a nice camera. One day I will upgrade to that kind of price range haha, but for now, the D5100 is what I can afford.
The no audio in the one clip is because it's me doing an interview portion, which I recorded with a mic that plugs into the camera.
Thanks again for all of your help, I really appreciate it!
