"Burn" step SHUTS down my PC

Post by sethcox »

Fairly new totally powered HP laptop (gig of memory, 8 GIG HD, etc) using XP Pro.

I have put together a 15 or 16 slideshow (almost 2 GIG) compilation each show with it's own associated audio file. While building slideshow (2/16) and 2% overall, the computer SHUTS DOWN totally. Never has this happened before. No other program causes it.

Any idea what in the world is going on? It's happened two out of two times so far. I'm scared to try again!

Help please!

Hmm, that's an odd one. I've never dealt with anything quite like that, but it sounds like either

A) There is a corrupted file in the second slideshow that is causing the program to freeze and the system to panic and shut down (I had something somewhat like this once, where anytime I tried to capture from an ADS device, it shut down.) Try running a second slideshow made up of other pictures (like the ones that come with the program) and see if the same thing happens.

B) It might be the program struggling to make the second slideshow. Make sure you exceed the minimal requirements for RAM and processor speed, and that you're not running any other programs. If it still happens, try switching to diagnostic startup and see if it happens there.
