Corel Video Studio Pro X4 No Audio on .avi files
I got a new camera that outputs .avi files, and put together a video. When I click an individual clip in the timeline and play it, the audio plays... however, when I play the project, the audio does not play. It also does not play when I render it. Please help! Thank you!

Re: Corel Video Studio Pro X4 No Audio on .avi files
I have moved your post to the specific Video Studio forum, since you are likely to get more responses that way!
Anyway, welcome to the forums!!
Unfortunately, though, .avi is merely a wrapper extension -- unless your camera produces uncompressed AVI (which is huge, running to about 65 GB per hour of video). There are over 800 different formats which call themselves .avi... And they have widely varying properties. So telling us your camera produces .avi in fact does not tell us much at all.
So could you please right click on one of the .avi files either in the Video Studio timeline or in the library window, and copy ALL its properties -- and especially its audio properties -- here. Then we might be able to come up with some sensible solutions...

Sounds like a codec issue. you may want to post the model and make of your camera, also and you may want to post the video property of the .avi that you're working on - so that we can at least try and research more about the camera that you are using.
Regarding the codec issue. Here are some of the codecs that you may want to install.

Re: Corel Video Studio Pro X4 No Audio on .avi files
Did your camera come with some sort of disc? If so, did you install anything from that disc? I ask since such discs often contain specific drivers and codecs required by the camera to transfer its contents correctly to a computer. In your case, the audio is MP3, and Video Studio appears to have problems with some MP3 codecs, particularly the LameMP3 one...
One thing you could try would be to create a separate sound file (with the clip in the timeline, select Share > Create Sound File) and save as a .wav file. Then you could insert that new file into the timeline.

The camera didn't come with any software. I will try to separate the audio file. Here's a link to the camera:http://www.fdcam.com/helmet-cameras.html

Re: Corel Video Studio Pro X4 No Audio on .avi files
I was wondering if you ever got a decent answer on this problem. I have tried to find help on the Facebook page as well, but no deal. Everyone thinks it is a codec problem but that is not it. And, for me at least, it is not just with AVI viles. any audio, regardless of format or regardless of where it originates (even the audio and video files that are preloaded into the VSPX4 libraries) will play their audio just fine when you just highlight the clip in the timeline and play it. as soon as you switch to project mode and want to play the whole project (even if the whole project consists of only that clip) the audio will not play. If it were a codec issue, why would the audio play when you play it as a clip in the timeline, but not when you play it as the project? The software worked just fine on my old computer, but I had to get a new laptop and I am having this issue with all audio or video files. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and still happens. I was considering upgrading to the new version, but don't want to spend the money if I will keep having these issues. Someone please help.

Please do not double post. You have already posted all of the above, and some more, in a separate new thread. Posting it again here will only invite confusion if some people reply here and others in the new thread. Given that this is an old thread, I am going to lock it and leave your new thread as the one for responses.
