are you capturing DV-AVI through firewire? DV-AVIs generally have larger file size requirements because they are uncompressed. a 60min DV video is roughly aroud 12-13gb of disc space. make sure you have enough room in your working folder. aside from the space your AVI occupies, it also needs an additional room for converting the AVI to mpegs/DVD.

DV .avi is compressed, but the compression is already done when recorded to tape (I believe it's a 5:1 compression).

I agree that 60 minutes of dv .avi is ~13gb (Type-2 dv .avi's can be slightly larger than Type-1 DV .avi's).

What is your operating system, and are your drives formatted as Fat32 or NTFS? You might be having a Fat32 filesize limit (which is 4gb, or about 19 minutes of dv .avi video).

is the 4gb filesize limitation of Fat32 causing the problem? Do your captures stop around 4gb (or about 19 minutes)???

it's easy to convert from Fat32 to NTFS, but be careful because it cannot be easily undone (without re-format and restoring...)
Fat32 to NTFS
