VS Pro 5X Ultimate..... Creating my 1st project; using the Timeline View. When I drag & drop a clip into Timeline the Default view of 1 Sec is much too large for my clips. I did locate how to manually chnage it from 1 Sec to 8 secs...Right Click above Timeline...
My question, is there a setting that will let me set the view to my liking as the default view and each time I start a new project that setting will be the default avoiding the necessity to change the zoom setting manually with each new project?
I take it, if I manually change the Zoom lets say to 8 seconds.....save the project, that when I open that saved project at a later time the 8 sec zoom view will be saved avoiding the need to change it manually.......
Timeline default View

Re: Timeline default View
Hi
Now i have been using Video Studio since Ulead Version 5 and have never noticed the right click above the timelines to access the zoom settings. So thanks for the info.
There is no options afaik that save the timeline zoom, each time you open a project it will default to 1 second.
To the right of the timeline is a slider with a + and - symbol, i generally use that to zoom the timelines.
Post your feelings to the X6 wishlist, at least there a corel employee may read the request

Re: Timeline default View
The learning curve is proceeding......unless I have missed something, when in the Capture mode from my DV Camcorder..with the setting Unchecked, "Save to timeline" (I like to work from Library and drag the clips into the Timeline that I want to use in my project)....and "split by scene", I expected I would see the Library populating as each scene was captured. Instead, in the Cature mode, you see the Scenes Populate after you Stop capture. This is how it works? I didn't miss a setting\perference setting?

Re: Timeline default View
I don't think you really want your library cluttered up with scenes (you could have hundreds for a longer video).

Re: Timeline default View
Hi rbmoving
No you have not missed a setting in preferences, thats the way it works.
There are many ways to approach the editing, I too use DV and Split by Scene, however I now use Win DV to capture the footage. I like being able to name my captured clips whereas VS uses a date format. Besides having a rogue frame on the ends of my clips.
As for the library I use it as a temporary holding station for my clips. My captured footage goes directly to the timeline, the initial project is saved as Captured Movie, this is my master copy of the captured files. The project is then re-named as Movie Edit this is my cutting room where i remove unwanted frames, delete unwanted clips. Story Board view can be useful for this.
If I have a full clip that is no good, maybe a shot of my feet, we have all done that, I first drag the clip to the library then delete from timeline, the library clip can now be deleted using Shift + Delete, this gives me the option of also removing from the hard drive. Saves a bit of space......Yep sometimes i delete the wrong one but VS requests a re-link All part of the learning curve.....
One hour of DV-Avi can be quite demanding to edit, I tend to capture shorter sections say 15/20 minutes, I then have several shorter projects to edit, but editing a shorter project can sometimes be easier to do. Always capture to a separate Working / Capture folder for each project.
As I say there are many ways to go about editing, non are wrong, just what we prefer........
