Unable to re-use cache file

after this I get an unspecified error message. This occurs when I try to write 4 .wmv files to DVD, it occurs around about the transition from the 2nd to 3rd file. Any ideas anyone? - sorry if this is common - newbe I'm afraid.

First, I have never used .wmv files, so cannot speak from personal experience as to these specific files. However, more generally, I was struck by the fact that you said you were trying to write these files direct to a DVD... But you also say you followed the recommended procedure... But if in fact you did follow the recommended procedure, you would not be trying to burn .wmv files direct to a DVD. That would mean you would be going Share > Create disc and then inserting .wmv files directly into the burning module. This would in turn mean that the burning module would then have to convert the wmv files on the fly to DVD-compatible format and then burn them to disc. Wide experience on this Board shows that this process can lead to a number of errors. What you should be doing is inserting the wmv files on the timeline, doing any editing and then going Share > Create video file > DVD, to first convert the files into a DVD-compatible MPEG-2 file. And when you have that file, you can then go Share > Create disc.

I tried what you suggest and it worked fine, I clearly did not understand the post it when I read it but all seems well now, thanks again.
