A lot of people i know are using Photoshop and they are very picky about gamut. All the colors have to be in gamut, and they want to find out any spot in a project that is out of gamut, and so on. Some PSP users are wondering how to do that. I have not seen anything about that in PSP and i am not sure if it is even doable with PSP.
Anyone would have any information on this? Can it be checked in PSP? If so, how?
Gamut anyone?

I don't know of any built in functions for it, no. But I'm still learning. Otherwise someone would have to script something.

Re: Gamut anyone?
Isn't gamut relating to the monitor screen?
Type in PSPX4 Help gamut and it brings up information.

Re: Gamut anyone?
It does relate to the monitor but there is more to it than that.
Gamut refers to the entire "gamut" of colors available.
Monitors, Printers, and Color spaces all have their individual gamuts. Testing for the gamut means checking to see if any of the colors currently in the image are outside of the intended gamut, this is especially important for printing as these colors will be clipped down to the nearest similar color and could potentially be printed incorrectly.
Photoshop helps you identify these colors by viewing the "outside" the gamut pixels with a special color.
PaintShop Pro's own Color Management options are pretty nice but it doesn't highlight the colors that are outside of the intended gamut. But you can get close by making and or downloading color profiles for your monitor and printer and use PSP's color management which will try its best to match what you see to what will come out. If done right when it looks good on your screen it'll look good when printed.

Re: Gamut anyone?
Be careful that you aren't led to believe that gamut is the holy grail. In reality most printers and monitors can't display the complete gamut anyway. There are other elements that will affect colour display just as much if not more than gamut. By working with 16 bit and careful use of gradients you can still get excellent results. Photoshop users tend to think that Photoshop is the 'best'. They may be right but in reality 'only' they can tell the difference!!!!

It's nice to aim for perfection but sometimes it can get in the way of creativity. I wouldn't stress over a few colours outside of your gamut capabilities.

Re: Gamut anyone?
Thanks everyone for your answers. I was asking this mostly because it has been a hot topic in the designing world of digital scrapbooking, and since the majority of designers are Adobe users, the minority of PSP users were asking me if i had anything comparable to one of their action to check gamut.
