Importing Mpeg as background video

Post by Liamo »

I am trying to import an Mpeg file(one of the templates in DVD Workshop) to use as background video in Cool 3D studio but it will not import. It keeps telling me 'File format mismatch'. Anyone know how/if this be done? :? Thanks

First, make sure you are loading the file the right way, most often a file mismatch means your trying to load from the wrong place. You mentioned Mpeg which means it's video, so if you're in 3.5 you're out of luck, as it can only import images. If you're in PS, then just click on Project -> Background -> Video

If that's the way you are doing it, and you still get that error, then in my experience, that means it's one of two things:

A) Part of the load program got corrupted - reinstall (this is normally, but not always, notable by the file type in question being removed from the "type" list.)

B) THere is a codec or corruption in the file that is not letting Cool 3D read it as an mpeg. Try recapturing the footage, or rendering it out through a video editor if you have one. (Video Studio is best, just because staying in one production line means you're less likely to encounter conflicts)

Hope that helps

Thanks Man.
I'm actually trying to bring it in to the latest version of Cool 3D studio. The file is actually a background video file to a motion menu template in DVD Workshop.
I try those things. I might bring it into VS8 and save it out as mpeg and see.

Liamo,
COOL3D PS does not support MPEG for video backgrounds. It will only accept AVI, Quicktime(qt, mov) files. So there is no codec issue or problems with your installation.

Thanks Rwernyei

Bit strange that it can't handle MPEG seeing that almost every other 'video type' software can? Just have to convert it.
