Differences between preview and exported images
I've noticed some differences between the image previews in AfterShot Pro and the exported images. It doesn't show up in every image, but is particularly noticeable in an image of a moss covered wall I shot last week.

The camera was configured to use sRGB when the image was taken. The screenshot was taken when using the PhotoPro profile internally within ASP, although I have tried switching AfterShot Pro to use the sRGB profile too.
I tried a JPEG export too and it looked the same as the TIFF version in Geegie. The export profiles for both TIFF and JPEG are set to sRGB, but again I tried the PhotoPro profile.
Both Aftershot Pro and Geegie are configured to use the correct monitor calibration ICC profile. I'm running Aftershot Pro on Ubuntu 12.04.
Any help gratefully appreciated!

Re: Differences between preview and exported images
Completely irrelevant for raw files.tonywhitmore wrote:The camera was configured to use sRGB when the image was taken.
How?The screenshot was taken when using the PhotoPro profile internally within ASP, although I have tried switching AfterShot Pro to use the sRGB profile too.
This is not user switchable.
There are variances in CM engines, but the comparison you posted is way beyond that.
The geequie screenshot looks like geequie was not set up to use CM but displayed a ProPhoto image.
cheers

Thanks for replying afx.

The profiles are being applied to both applications, as removing the setting from either results in a noticeable alteration to the image displayed. (Geeqie also appears to be correctly picking up the system default profile if that option is selected.)
I was referring to the Soft Proofing configuration dialog in the bottom right hand corner of ASP. Apologies if I have not correctly understood what this setting affects.afx wrote:How?The screenshot was taken when using the PhotoPro profile internally within ASP, although I have tried switching AfterShot Pro to use the sRGB profile too.

I've just generated a fresh image using the sRGB output profile and the same difference in colour is apparent. I have verified that both ASP and Geeqie are using the correct ICC profile:afx wrote:There are variances in CM engines, but the comparison you posted is way beyond that.

Re: Differences between preview and exported images
are you applying any presets in the output queue?

Re: Differences between preview and exported images
Have you compared the resulting JPG and the raw file within AS?

Not as far as I know, I'm using the default 8-bit TIFF and Full JPEG output types.grubernd wrote:are you applying any presets in the output queue?

Re: Differences between preview and exported images
The difference is still noticeable when comparing the JPEG (or TIFF) with the raw file within AS:afx wrote:Have you compared the resulting JPG and the raw file within AS?

could you provide the raw file, too? and your monitors icc profile? (i guess it is a wide gamut monitor)?

Sure. Here's the RAW file:spoilerhead wrote:could you provide the raw file, too? and your monitors icc profile? (i guess it is a wide gamut monitor)?

And here's the ICC profile:
http://tonywhitmore.co.uk/misc/GCM%20-% ... BX2440.icc
The above profile was generated a few days ago, using a Colorhug and the GNOME Colour utility. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster BX2440. I don't know whether it's a wide gamut monitor.
