When capturing footage from my Sony DV Camcorder via firewire, Ulead VideoStudio 9 fails to split that footage into individual clips in the library ready for editing. It merely captures the footage in one long clip. I do have the tick in the box telling it to split the clips. I could of course split this manually into clips myself but that involves a lot more time and effort. Is it something to do with my settings? Any ideas please?

Captured footage does not split into individual clips

Thanks duffgnr. Have actually solved the problem inadvertently. Tried another tape and Ulead split it into clips, no problem. Looking back the first tape was in the camera when I dropped it on the ground. This affected camcorder recording giving me lots of jerky footage. Have since changed the camcorder. However thanks for introducing me to batch capture. Had not tried it before but it looks very promising.
Many thanks,

Although you have resolved your problem it seems, it is also worth remembering that if you are capturing direct to MPEG format, then split-by-scene only works after you have done the full capture i.e. you capture your whole MPEG, then tell the computer to split it by scene. Split-by-scene capture only works if you are capturing to DV/AVI format.
