I'm using the free trial version of Videostudio X5 and have 3 video files I am trying to burn to a BD-R disk. The files are H.264 and when I preview it before burning, the menu I created works fine. One of the three files is large, over 9gb. When I burn the disk, the large video file is not burning correctly. When I go into that file from the menu, it just loops back to the first menu item. I tried burning just the large file to a BD-R and it worked fine. The total project size is around 17 gb so I'm under the 25 gb limit. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I think the next thing I'll try is breaking the large video file into two files. I'd like to buy the software if I can get past this glitch.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

On the burning page, select the cogwheel icon down in the bottom left of screen ("Options"). In the dialogue box which appears uncheck the "Auto repeat when disc playback ends"box. And at the very bottom there is an option labelled 'Playback Options'. You have the choice to select either 'Return to Menu' or 'Continue to Play Next Clip'. I suspect you have selected the former and want the latter...
Or have I misunderstood your problem?

Re: Video file won't burn to BD-R disk
Thanks for your reply Ken. I think I will change that setting that you mention. My menu has three chapters, with the last one being my 9 gb video file. When I make that selection on the menu, it starts to play just for a second, but then loops back to my first chapter because of the Auto Repeat option you mention. Perhaps 9 gb is too big of a video file for it to burn? Although it burns ok when I tried just a one chapter menu with just that one 9gb file. I've tried burning 3 times, and each time it's done the same thing.

Unless the video on the disc is exactly the same settings as your source file, file sizes do not mean very much when burning to a disc. For example, your 9GB file might be much more compressed then what is encoded/burned to the disc and the final size on the disc could well be larger or smaller depending on the setting.
What is the total length of all the videos you are trying to burn?

The total size of the project is just over 17gb. Thanks.

Sorry, I meant time length. File size is generally meaningless since it depends on many parameters: video format, bit rate, resolution, etc.KennyJ5419 wrote:The total size of the project is just over 17gb. Thanks.

And instead of burning expensive Blu-Ray coasters, on the final page of the burning module, select 'Blu-Ray Folders' instead of an actual disc. That way you can play the folder on a software Blu-Ray player; and if it is successful you can burn it to an actual disc.

Re: Video file won't burn to BD-R disk
Ken - Testing on a blu ray software player is a great idea. The blu ray disks aren't cheap!
The large video file is around 75 minutes long..with the total of the three video files being around 90 minutes. And I created the video files in 1920 X 1080p H.264 if that matters.
I noticed that I can get the X4 Ultimate version a lot cheaper than the X5 version and since I won't be doing anything with HTML5 or 3D, I'm thinking about going that route.
Thanks again guys!
